Willy Wonka's Chocolate Shop is a location featured in the 2023 film Wonka. It is a candy store owned and run by Willy Wonka, a young and innovative chocolatier who dreams of opening a shop in a city renowned for its chocolate.

Background[]

The chocolate shop is located in the Galeries Gourmet, a prestigious shopping center. It is the result of Wonka's hard work and creativity, as he created a variety of delicious and whimsical candies that attracted the attention of the public and the media. The shop has a brown tree made of chocolate with pink flowers and cherries growing on it surrounded by pink cotton candy clouds in addition to various other confections which are sold there. However, it is later destroyed after Mrs. Scrubitt infuses Wonka's chocolates with different ingredients that cause negative side effects, such as Yeti sweat, which incites chaos among the customers.

Appearance[]

The chocolate shop is a small but cozy establishment decorated with colorful wallpaper, paintings, and furniture. It has a large display window which creates a cheerful and inviting atmosphere. This is where Wonka showcases his latest creations and inventions, such as the Everlasting Gobstoppers, the Fizzy Lifting Drinks, and the Three-Course Dinner Gum. The shop also has a counter, where customers can pay for their purchases and choose to receive either spendable or editable coins as change.

Products[]

The chocolate shop offers a wide range of candies and chocolates, many of which are unique and original to Wonka. Some of the products include:

  • Chocolate Bars: Wonka's signature product, which come in different flavors and sizes. Some of the chocolate bars have special features, such as the Scrumdiddlyumptious Bar, which has nuts and caramel, and the Wonka Bar, which has a chance of containing a Golden Ticket, a pass to visit Wonka's chocolate factory.
  • Everlasting Gobstoppers: A hard candy that changes colors and flavors as it is sucked, and never gets smaller or loses its taste. Wonka claims that one Gobstopper can last a lifetime.
  • Fizzy Lifting Drinks: A carbonated beverage that makes the drinker float in the air. The effect wears off when the drinker burps.
  • Three-Course Dinner Gum: A chewing gum that simulates the taste and sensation of eating a three-course meal, consisting of tomato soup, roast beef and baked potato, and blueberry pie and ice cream. However, the gum is not fully tested, and has a side effect of turning the chewer into a giant blueberry.
  • Other products: Some of the other products that Wonka sells or mentions are the Hair Toffee, which makes hair grow longer and faster, the Lickable Wallpaper, which has different fruits that can be tasted by licking them, the Snozzberries, which are a mysterious and exotic fruit, and the Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight, which is a chocolate bar with marshmallow and fudge.

Role in the film[]

The chocolate shop plays a significant role in the film, as it is where Wonka's story begins and ends. At the beginning of the film, Wonka arrives in Europe with nothing but twelve silver silver sovereigns in his pocket and a hatful of dreams. Wonka is fascinated by the chocolate industry and decides to open his own shop in the Galeries Gourmet, despite the competition of the chocolate cartel, led by Arthur Slugworth. Wonka's shop becomes a sensation, as he invents new and amazing candies that delight the customers and the media. However, it is then revealed that someone had sabotaged the treats and the customers all riot, burning down the store.
