Look at what Netflix has started! The amount of streaming services being created right now is getting annoying, but I guess this is the future of entertainment.
WarnerMedia is the latest company to enter the race of streaming services and they are looking to launch next year, which is the same year that Disney is launching theirs.
WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey made the announcement during the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit in Los Angeles. Stankey explained that the company will mine its library and content engines to create such a service by the end of 2019.
It’s said that the new platform “will be fronted by HBO, with content from additional Warner Media brands bundled around that premium cable service.” Stankey says:
- “This is another benefit of the AT&T/Time Warner merger, and we are committed to launching a compelling and competitive product that will serve as a complement to our existing businesses and help us to expand our reach by offering a new choice for entertainment with the WarnerMedia collection of films, television series, libraries, documentaries and animation.”

The price for the service has not been announced but Variety says that it "will be more expensive than the current HBO over-the-top subscription plan (which he said is priced more than fairly, thanks to the ‘emotional engagement’ of Warner Media content like Game of Thrones).”
The HBO plan is $15 a month, which is expensive compared to the other streaming services and this new WarnerMedia service is going to be more expensive that that? I don’t know if that’s going to be worth it.
