Ever since Discovery Inc. and WarnerMedia merged to form Warner Bros. Discovery, there hasn't been any announcements regarding Discovery Family Channel ever since. The last one ever to date was on February 7, 2022, when Hasbro was "evaluating" what to do with its 40% stake in the joint venture with Discovery. The CFO pointed to a possible sale or another strategic alternative for the Discovery Family Channel stake.
On top of that, the only change there was between the most recent annual reports from Warner Bros. Discovery regarding Hasbro's ownership of Discovery Family was "Neither the put nor call was exercised in 2022. In December 2022, Hasbro and WBD signed an amendment to the previous agreement extending the put-call election to the period January 31, 2025 to March 31, 2025."
For these reasons, I decided to do a weekly countdown on when the next announcement will occur regarding what will happen to Hasbro's ownership of Discovery Family. All they've done so far was quietly removing Hasbro's shows without selling back their rights.
The probability of an announcement regarding Hasbro's ownership of DFC occuring began on the weekend of May 6-8, 2023, when the first two Warner Bros. cartoons to air on Discovery Family were added to the lineup. Every week from there, if no announcement occurs, the probability increases by 1% and will continue all the way up to March 29-31, 2025, when there should be a 99% chance some announcement will have to be posted.
From August 5-7, 2023, there was only a 13% chance an announcement would have to occur. At that time, Transformers Prime was removed from weekday reruns on Discovery Family without the rights sold back.
From September 30-October 2, 2023, there was a 21% chance of an announcement occuring. At that time, My Little Pony: Pony Life was removed from weekday reruns on Discovery Family without the rights sold back.
From November 18-20, 2023, there was a 28% chance of an announcement occuring. At that time, Transformers Prime had briefly returned to Discovery Family after Littlest Pet Shop: A World of Our Own disappeared for good. Again, neither show's rights were sold back.
From December 30, 2023 to January 1, 2024, there was a 34% chance of an announcement occuring. At that time, My Little Pony: Pony Life briefly returned to Discovery Family for a day, and again, the show's rights were still not sold back afterwards.
By July 1, 2024, there was a much better 60% chance of an announcement occuring. At that time, almost all Equestria Girls media was removed from Discovery Family for good, and yet again, without the rights sold back.
Annoyingly, as of September 28, 2024, there has still been no word on what will happen to any of Hasbro's remaining shows or its ownership on Discovery Family, despite there being a current 73% chance of it.
So far now, out of 100, the probability of an announcement regarding Hasbro and Discovery Family's joint venture by each date is:
