The title is a reference to the 1940 Warner Brothers war film The Fighting 69th.
Plot[]
A couple is having a picnic in a peaceful forest. Red ants are on one side and black ants on the other. Both sides declare to declare war over the couple, and their picnic basket.
Censorship[]
Versions of this cartoon airing on Cartoon Network and its sister channel Boomerang in the United States cut the part where, after the black ants head back to the trenches with a hot dog, a blackfaced ant with white lips and a Rochester-esque voice, goes above the trenches to get mustard.[2][3]
