The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie is a 2024 animated movie based on the Looney Tunes Cartoons series originally set to air on Cartoon Network's ACME Night block of films. It was written by Kevin Costello.[1][2][3][4] Similar to Looney Tunes: Rabbits Run, it will also serve as the series finale to Looney Tunes Cartoons. The film premiered in France on June 11, 2024 at the Annecy Film Festival.[5] The film was released in theaters in the United States on March 14, 2025.[6] It is the overall eleventh feature film in the franchise, as well as the first to be both an original story and fully animated (as each prior film was either an anthology film or a live-action/animated hybrid).
Porky and Daffy, the classic animated odd couple, turn into unlikely heroes when their antics at the local bubble gum factory uncover a secret alien mind control plot. Against all odds, the two are determined to save their town and the world, if they don't drive each other crazy in the process.
Like Bye Bye Bunny, it was initially set to be released on HBO Max. However, it was announced on 22 August 2022 that the film will not be moving forward on HBO Max and will be shopped elsewhere.[7]
According to Jim Soper, they are still trying to find a streaming service.[8] It will be the longest fully animated original Looney Tunes film as it will be 90 minutes long.[9] it was going to be called Looney Tunes: Bubble Brain and then "Porky and Daffy" then to The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie. On 26 October 2023, Warner Bros. decided to move it from a straight to streaming release to a theatrical release. It was released in Q2 of 2024.
On August 8, 2024, Ketchup Entertainment acquired the North American distribution rights for the film.[10]

Trivia[]
This is the eighth non-live action hybrid Looney Tunes theatrical film.
This was the second time Lola Bunny remains absent in a Looney Tunes movie after featuring her in a Space Jam Film since Looney Tunes: Back in Action. But this time it did not featured Bugs Bunny or any other Looney Tunes characters either but rather Porky Pig & Daffy Duck. Unlike Back in Action, Petunia Pig is now playing a major leading female role since this is her first time to be in cinema.
