The Calico Dragon is a 1935 Happy Harmonies cartoon short. When a little girl falls asleep after reading a fairy tale to her doll, her toys come to life. The toys act out a fairy tale in which a prince has must brawl with a dragon. The cartoon was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short Subject in 1935.[1]

Plot

A doll-faced little girl reads a fairy tale to her doll at bedtime. After she nods off, her stuffed animals and other characters come to life on the landscape of her bed. All of the creatures are made of various sorts of fabric and buttons. Once inside the world of "calico patterns," a prince must fight an evil three-headed dragon or be eaten alive. Who comes to the rescue?
