Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is an upcoming American superhero film directed and written by James Gunn. Produced by DC Studios and to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it will be the second film in the DC Universe (DCU) and a reboot of the Supergirl film series. The film stars Milly Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, and Jason Momoa.
On January 31, 2023, James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled the first projects from their DCU slate, which begins with Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. One of the films in that chapter was revealed to be an adaptation of the comic book miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2021–22) by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.[1]
By January 2024, Milly Alcock, Emilia Jones, Cailee Spaeny, and Meg Donnelly were being considered to portray Supergirl. Donnelly had voiced the character in the animated films Legion of Super-Heroes and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One.[2]
On April 3, 2024, Craig Gillespie had been hired to direct the film and Ana Nogueira writing the script.[4]
On October 31, 2024, Deadline reported that Matthias Schoenaerts and Eve Ridley joined the cast.[5]
On December 30, 2024, Variety reported that Jason Momoa was cast as Lobo for the film, and that filming is scheduled to begin on January 13, 2024, in London.[6]
