Shane DeTorre is Frank DeTorre's daughter, the niece of Bob DeTorre, and a supporting character in Osmosis Jones

Background[]

Personality[]

Shane DeTorre is a kind, sweet ten-year old who wishes to help her father in regards to his health. Her desire for her dad to get in better shape seems to have been have been born after her mother's death and her father sinking into depression as a result of her death, in addition to becoming a laughingstock. Her mother's death also had an affect on Shane as she drifted herself away from participating in school activities and engaging with her classmates, despite having a few friends. In addition, Shane grew more mature for her age where she had to take it upon herself to care for her father who had sunken into depression over her mother's death more than she did. Yet, Shane did intend to remain optimistic and kind to others even after the death of her mother and her father becoming a laughingstock.

Shane was wise and intelligent for her age. She was able to create a handmade volcano science project and recognize what type of nutrients each food contains while knowing the dangers of certain types of bacteria and diseases.

Though Shane loved her father, she grew frustrated with his carelessness and slouchiness. When her frustration came to a boiling point, Shane revealed she blamed Frank for her mother's death due to his poor decisions to take care of himself, thus possibly motivating her mother to do the same. However, once she spotted Frank be transported in an ambulance, Shane grew worried and immediately left her field trip to check on her father, showing she still cared for him. While Frank was on the verge of dying, Shane grew even more worried and when Frank's heart monitor stopped, she broke down in tears, apologizing to her father for resentment and assured him she still loved him no matter what.

However, when Frank was saved by Osmosis Jones, Shane was happy and relieved to see her father alive again. As a result of her father's near-death experience, Shane went through a positive change of heart where she became more patient with Frank and grew more optimistic with life while building a better relationship with her father.

History[]

Shane was born to Frank and Maggie DeTorre. Unfortunately, Shane's mother passed away and Shane started isolating herself from school activities.

Prior to the movie's plot (two years before the story of the movie), during a science fair which Shane participated in at her school, her father Frank, triggered accidentally by Osmosis Jones (Frank's WBC police officer inside his body) during the WBC patrolman's virus bust, publicly vomited on Shane's teacher named Mrs. Boyd. The incident ran in the newspaper the next day, resulting in Frank, Shane, and Mrs. Boyd becoming the town's laughingstock overnight. Frank was fired from his original job and was placed 200-yard restraining order by Boyd, Mrs. Boyd's children were mercilessly ridiculed by other kids where she had to have one of her children changed the school. Jones was demoted after his suspension and Shane further isolated herself from the other children as a result of the incident.
