Road to Andalay is a 1964 Merrie Melodies short directed by Friz Freleng and Hawley Pratt.

Title[]

The title is a reference to the 1917 novel The Road to Mandalay along with Speedy's signature phrase.

Plot[]

Speedy Gonzales wakes up and tries to find a cat to wake up. Sylvester chases after Speedy until he reaches the edge of a cliff. Speedy hides behind Sylvester and yells "Yeehaw!" at him, causing Sylvester to jump and fall down the chasm. Starting to lose confidence, Sylvester orders a falcon named Malcolm Falcon from the pet store to hunt after the mouse. Sylvester takes a peek at the falcon, but the falcon attacks him. Malcolm runs after Speedy, but drags Sylvester with him until Speedy hides in a small hole and Sylvester slams into a wall.

Sylvester tells Malcolm to let go only when he does, although when he attempts to tell him to let go, Malcolm is flying vertically and Sylvester falls down again. Malcolm attacks again, this time separate from Sylvester, but ends up flying to an airplane jet and attacks Sylvester on the head. Speedy decides to hide something under his hat and takes a siesta. Sylvester thinks his curiosity won't get the most out of him, but eventually he tells Malcolm to pick up what's under the hat, a stick of dynamite. Malcolm pecks Sylvester again for being asked to bring the dynamite stick.

Malcolm tries to chase Speedy until Speedy corners Malcolm again. Speedy sprinkles a little salt on Malcolm's tail, and states that the bird is unable to fly anymore. However, Sylvester thinks it's a silly superstition and places some salt on his tail. Speedy then asks to wiggles their tails, causing them to fall off. As Malcolm and Sylvester runs back to town to glue back their tail, some salt inadvertently pours onto Speedy's tail and falls off as well, causing Speedy to run after the two for spare glue.
