She is first seen brushing her hair. Moments later, she is disgusted by the cake her mother had just baked for her father's birthday and angrily declares she won't eat it. While she is asleep in bed, the Mouse Queen casts a spell on her, causing her to become hideously ugly. Once again Drosselmeyer is given the task of figuring out how to cure her. He eventually learns that the fabled Krakatooth Nut can cure her, on the condition that it is cracked open in the teeth of a young man who has never worn boots. The King commands all the princes and noblemen to apply, with the promise of marrying Perlipat once she is cured. However, the Krakatooth is so hard that it shatters all the men's teeth as they try to crack it. Unable to cure Perlipat, Drosselmeyer is about to be beheaded when his nephew Hans steps in. He manages to crack the nut open between his teeth and hands it to Perlipat, who eats it and the spell is broken. However, after Hans was transformed into a nutcracker by the Mouse Queen, an ungrateful Perlipat rejects him for being ugly, saying that she refuses to marry a doll like that. She is last seen when she is directed to the hall of mirrors.
