Nicolas Flamel was a great wizard who discovered all sorts of mystics. He later on created the Philosopher's Stone which can immortalize the soul in someone. 300 years later he and Dumbledore agreed that it should have all the protection it can get so Hagrid whent to Gringotts Wizarding Bank to take it out of volt 713 and Harry promised not to tell anyone. Through out Harry’s first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry The Stone was hidden in the Underground Chambers but then with Lord Voldemort still alive he and Albus agreed that it’s best that the Stone would be destroyed and he died.
