Mrs. Scrubitt is one of the overarching antagonists in the 2023 Warner Bros. Pictures adventure feature film Wonka.
Background[]
Mrs. Scrubitt runs the laundry house that Wonka stays in, along with her partner Bleacher. She is a greedy and abusive woman who exploits her workers and charges them exorbitant fees for living there. She also works for the Chocolate Cartel, a group of rival chocolate makers who want to sabotage Wonka's business.
Personality[]
Mrs. Scrubitt is very rude, abusive, and manipulative. She has no qualms about mistreating her workers, especially Noodle, whom she found as a baby and forced to work for her ever since. She is also a gold digger, who pretends to love Bleacher when she thinks he is a lord, but dumps him when she learns the truth. She is loyal to the Chocolate Cartel and helps them in their schemes to stop Wonka.
Physical Appearance[]
Mrs. Scrubitt is a middle-aged woman with curly brown hair and a round face. She wears a dirty apron over a floral dress and a bonnet on her head. She is often seen with a scowl on her face and a broom in her hand.
Role in the film[]
Mrs. Scrubitt first appears when Wonka arrives in the town and looks for a place to stay. She and Bleacher offer him a room at their hotel, but trick him into signing a contract that binds him to work for them at their laundry house. She then introduces him to the other workers, including Noodle, whom she treats harshly.
Wonka and Noodle manage to trick her and Bleacher by pretending that Bleacher is a lord as they and the other laundry workers escape each day to sell chocolates. She falls for the ruse and acts sweetly towards Bleacher. However, she soon discovers their Willy and Noodle's actions when Mr. Slugworth came by and broke the news to her and Bleacher, and tell them his plan to sabotage Wonka's chocolates by poisoning them with Yeti Sweat, causing the customers to destroy Wonka's new place, then when everyone who got scammed by them got to leave because of Slugworth’s money, except Noodle, where they keep her locked up, until Wonka and the rest of the gang break her out.
Scrubbitt and Bleacher are last seen in the epilogue, where they drink the poison they used for the chocolates to get rid of it when the police arrived, but it doesn't work as the mutation has already happened and they get arrested.

- Mrs. Scrubitt is portrayed by Olivia Colman, who also played Madame Thenardier in the Les Miserables miniseries, Godmother in Fleabag, PAL in The Mitchells vs. the Machines, and Mama Bear in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
- Mrs. Scrubitt is an original character created for the film, and does not appear in any of the previous adaptations of Roald Dahl's novel.
- Mrs. Scrubitt's name is a pun on the word "scrub", which refers to both her occupation and her unpleasant personality.
