• Mr. Stringer is actually based on John Cleese's character Basil Fawlty from TV series Fawlty Towers.
• Mr. Stringer is also based on Rowan Atkinson's ironic character Mr. Bean.
• The role of Mr. Stringer was originally offered to John Cleese, But he declined as it is too similar to his character Basil Fawlty. Eric Idle was the second choice for the role, but also turned it down as he was busy filming Nuns On The Run. Michael Crawford, the late Dudley Moore, Griff Rhys Jones, the late Geoffrey Palmer and the late Alan Rickman were also considered for the role.
