The Modern Looney Tunes Series began in August 13, 1996 with the video releases of "Chariots of Fur" (1994) and "Carrotblanca" (1995). Each videotape in this series was named after the modern-day Looney Tunes short it contained. The tapes also featured an additional five classic cartoons. On November 4, 1997 the series was continued with the video releases of two of Chuck Jones' recent cartoons: "Superior Duck" (1996) with Daffy Duck and "From Hare to Eternity" (1997) with Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. Many collectors were disappointed with the number of titles that were repeated from previous Warner releases.
Beginning from this video series, almost all Warner Home Video Looney Tunes compilation tapes for the rest of the 1990s open with a short version of the "Warner Bros. Family Entertainment" logo as seen on Warner Bros. Animation's cartoon shows (albeit with a short Merrie Melodies fanfare).

Notes[]
- In 1998, Warner Home Video reissued "From Hare To Eternity" and "Superior Duck" VHS tapes in Europe, each containing recently-created WB dubbed version prints for the classic cartoons instead of the old unrestored prints as seen on the USA tapes.
- "From Hare to Eternity" is the only release from this series that was released direct-to-video, but it also was released theatrically that same day, making this a simultaneous release short.
Dubbed versions[]
- Outside the USA, the cartoons in "Carrotblanca: Looney Tunes Go To The Movies" and "Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote: Chariots of Fur (and Five Other Cartoons)" VHS tapes have a 1997 dubbed version disclaimer over the original ending cards labelled "DUBBED VERSION (C) 1997 WARNER BROS.", very similar to the ones seen on the Stars of Space Jam VHS tapes, only because for new music-and-effects dub track was created for foreign dubs (evidence in here: http://chomikuj.pl/franny1988/Filmy+wideo/Filmy+kr*c3*b3tkometra*c5*bcowe+wytw*c3*b3rni+Warner+Bros/Karotkablanka).
- Unlike the rest of the shorts, the computer-colorized version of "You Ought to Be in Pictures" on the Carrotblanca VHS has the dubbed disclaimer at the very beginning, rather than at the ending card (evidence in here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4dgygm)
