Margaret Hamilton (December 9, 1902-May 16, 1985) was an American actress best known for her portrayal of the Wicked Witch of the West and Miss Almira Gulch in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. Her Warner Bros roles were Amy the housekeeper in the 1938 film Four's a Crowd, Phoebe Lamb in the 1937 film Mountain Justice, Mrs. Cagle in the 1938 film A Slight Case of Murder, Miss Hannaberry in the 1939 film The Angels Wash Their Faces, and Mrs. Angles in the 1946 comedy film Janie Gets Married.
She died from a heart attack at age 82 on May 16, 1985.
