Joseph Tapley "Joe" Dougherty was an American voice actor who provided the original voice of Porky Pig from 1935 to 1937. After that, Mel Blanc took over the role and voiced Porky.
Joe's stutter became one of the character's trademarks; his inability to control it and the time it took for the voice recording to finish was a factor in the role being recast.
Dougherty made an on-screen appearance in the 1954 Judy Garland film A Star Is Born, where he played a makeup man.
