October 1988[]

[It is a rainy day in Derry, Maine. In his bedroom, Bill Denbrough is pulling pages from his notebook to make a paper sailboat for his little brother, Georgie. Georgie draws a smiley face on the window. He looks outside at the rain.]
Georgie: Sure I won't get in trouble, Bill?
Bill: Don't be a wuss. I'd come with you if I weren't [coughs] dying.
Georgie: You're not dying.
Bill: You didn't see the v-vomit coming out of my nose this morning?
Georgie: That's disgusting.
Bill: Okay. Now g-g-go on, get the wax.
Georgie: In the cellar?
Bill: You want it to float don’t you?
Georgie: Fine.
[Georgie hurries downstairs. He catches a glimpse of their mother, Sharon Denbrough in the parlor playing piano, an earthy beauty transported to another world while she plays.]
[Georgie's stomach sinks as he comes face to face with the cellar door -- the only thing between Georgie and the monster in the basement of his imagination -- it.]
[Georgie flings the cellar door open.]
Bill: (on walkie-talkie) Georgie. Hurry up.
[Georgie ventures his arm into the Dark void. He gropes around and finds the light switch. Nothing. Georgie snatches his arm back.]
Georgie: (whispering) Okay. I'm brave.
[He steels himself and plunges into the void.]
[Georgie scrambles down four steps to the cellar shelf and starts looking for the wax.]
Georgie: Where's the wax?
[Georgie eventually finds the wax.]
Georgie: There's the wax. Yes.
[Georgie grabs the wax and looks at a statue with a face. He looks to the side and sees two eyes staring back at him. Georgie quickly grabs a flashlight and turns it on revealing two light bulbs suddenly Georgie gets startled by a crash.]
Georgie: What was that? What's that?
[Georgie starts running up the stairs.]
Georgie: Oh, jeez.
[In Bill's room. Georgie has his arm over Bill's shoulder watching him put the wax on the paper boat.]
Bill: All right. There you go. She's all ready, Captain.
Georgie: She?
Bill: You always call boats "she".
Georgie: "She". Thanks, Billy.
[Georgie hugs Bill. Bill tickles Georgie making him laugh. Georgie grabs the walkie-talkie.]
Georgie: See you later. Bye.
[Georgie leaves Bill's room with the boat. Bill stands up to look out his bedroom window at Georgie who spots him and waves.]
Bill: Be careful.
[Georgie puts the boat in the water, and it starts sailing. Georgie runs after the boat. Georgie ducks under a sign but he didn't duck for the second one until he hits his head and falls on his back. The boat continues sailing and Georgie gets up and follows it. Georgie ends up on Jackson and Witcham street where he sees his boat heading for the storm drain.]
Georgie: No!
[The boat falls into the storm drain.]
Georgie: No! Oh, Bill's gonna kill me.
[As he attempts to retrieve it, Georgie sees a clown in the sewer.]
Pennywise: Hiya, Georgie. What a nice boat. Do you want it back?
Georgie: Um, yes, please.
Pennywise: You look like a nice boy. I bet you have a lot of friends.
Georgie: Three, but my brother's my best best.
Pennywise: Where is he?
Georgie: In bed. Sick.
Pennywise: I bet I can cheer him up. I'll give him a balloon. Do you want a balloon too, Georgie?
Georgie: I'm not supposed to take stuff from strangers.
Pennywise: Oh...Well, I'm Pennywise the Dancing Clown. "Pennywise?" "Yes." "Meet Georgie. Georgie, meet Pennywise."
[Georgie chuckles.]
Pennywise: Now we aren't strangers, are we?
[A woman opens the front door to her house and sees Georgie on his knees in front of the storm drain. The woman starts heading back inside. With Georgie.]
Georgie: What are you doing in the sewer?
Pennywise: A storm blew me away. Blew the whole circus away. [chuckles] Can you smell the circus, Georgie? There's peanuts, cotton candy, hot dogs, and...
Georgie: Popcorn?
Pennywise: Popcorn! [chuckles] Is that your favorite?
Georgie: Uh-huh.
Pennywise: Mine, too. [laughs] Because they pop. Pop, pop, pop.
[Georgie giggles.]
Pennywise: Pop, pop, pop.
Georgie: Pop.
[Georgie and Pennywise laughs. Pennywise stops laughing and growls.]
Georgie: [whimpers] I should get going now.
Pennywise: Oh. Without your boat?
[Pennywise holds up the boat.]
Pennywise: You don't wanna lose it, Georgie. Bill's gonna kill you. Here. Take it. Take it, Georgie.
[Georgie then reaches out to grab the boat, but Pennywise bites his arm off.]
Georgie: Help!
[Georgie starts crawling away from the storm drain. But Pennywise grabs his leg and pulls him into the storm drain.]
Georgie: Billy! [echoes]

Summer of 1989[]

[A shot of a storm drain is shown as the film's title appears; followed by the words June 1989.]
[Cut to a farm on the edge of town; a herd of sheep are in the barn; a farm worker pushes one of them forward; Mike Hanlon points a bolt gun at it; his grandfather, Leroy Hanlon, is pressuring him to slaughter the sheep.]
Leroy: Pull it, Mike. Go on now, pull it. [Mike is reluctant; his grandfather takes the gun and shoots the sheep, then throws the used-up bolt in a bucket, then hands the gun to his aide] Here, reload it. You need to start taking more responsibility around here, Mike. Your dad was younger than you when he took--
Mike: I'm not my dad, okay?
Leroy: [somewhat understanding] Yeah. Look at me, son. Look at me! There are two places you can be in this world. You can be out here like us or you can be in there, like them. You waste time hemming and hawing, and someone else is gonna make that choice for you. Except you won't know it, until you feel that bolt between your eyes. [He walks away; his aide raises the gate so another sheep can be slaughtered]
[At school, Bill and his friends, Eddie Kaspbrak and Richie Tozier, walk out of a classroom.]
Eddie: So, there's this church full of Jews, right? And Stan has to take this super Jewy test.
Bill: But how's it work?
Eddie: They slice the tip of his dick off.
Richie: But then Stan will have nothing left!
[Behind them, Stanley Uris walks out of a classroom and runs up to the boys.]
Eddie: That's true.
Stanley: [running up to them] Wait up, you guys!
Bill: Hey, Stan, what happens at the Bar Mitzvah, anyways? Ed says they slice the tip of your d-dick off.
Richie: Yeah, and I think the rabbi's gonna pull down your pants, turn to the crowd and say "Where's the beef?" [the four of them laugh]
Stanley: At the Bar Mitzvah, I read from the Torah, and then I make a speech and suddenly, I become a man.
Eddie: I could think of funner ways to become a man.
Stanley: "More fun" you mean.
Richie: Oh, shit. [The boys go past Henry Bowers and his minions: Reginald "Belch" HugginsVic Criss, and Patrick Hockstetter; Henry stands there with his arms folded, Belch and Patrick smile malevolently at them, and Vic merely gives them a threatening stare] Think they'll sign my yearbook? "Dear Richie, sorry for taking a hot, steaming dump in your backpack last March. Have a good summer."
[As they go down the stairs, a teenage girl, Gretta Keene, walks past them, bumps Stan, and stomps into the girl's bathroom; another girl walks up to the doorway and points at a stall; Gretta walks up to the door, and, with a growl, kicks it; inside the stall, a red-haired girl, Beverly Marsh, smoking a cigarette. She jumps.]
Gretta: Are you in there by yourself, Beaver-ly? Or do you have half the guys in the school with you, huh, slut? [Beverly puts out her cigarette on the wall] I know you're in there, little shit. I can smell you. No wonder you don't have any friends.
[Another girl proceeds to get a trash bag loose from the sink]
Beverly: Which is it, Gretta? Am I a slut or a little shit? Make up your mind.
Gretta: You're trash. [the other girl pulls the trash bag out of the trash can and into the adjacent stall] We just wanted to remind you.
Girl #2: Such a loser. [Beverly looks up to see her tilting the trash bag over the wall; Beverly immediately grabs her backpack and holds it above her head as disgusting garbage rains down on her]
Gretta: Well, at least now you'll smell better.
Girl #1: Gross.
Gretta: Let's go, girls. [the girls walk out laughing] Have a nice summer, Beaver-ly.
[Beverly lowers her trash-covered backpack in disgust]
Girl #3: Pathetic.
[Outside, Bill, Eddie, Richie, and Stan dump their notebooks and school things in the trash.]
Stanley: Best feeling ever.
Richie: Yeah? Try tickling your pickle for the first time.
Eddie: Hey, what do you guys wanna do tomorrow?
Richie: I start my training.
Eddie: Wait, what training?
Richie: Street Fighter.
Eddie: Is that how you wanna spend your summer? Inside of an arcade?
Richie: Beats spending it inside of your mother. [does a thumbs-down] Oh!
Stanley: [lowering Richie's arm] What if we go to the quarry?
Bill: Guys, we have the Barrens.
Stanley: Right.
Eddie: Betty Ripsom's mom. [they turn to look at Mrs. Ripsom, standing next to a police officer, with Sheriff Bowers, Henry's dad, a few feet away]
Stanley: Is she really expecting to see her come out of that school?
Eddie: I don't know. As if Betty Ripsom's been hiding at Home Ec. for the last few weeks.
Stanley: You think they'll actually find her?
Richie: Sure. In a ditch. All decomposed, covered in worms and maggots. Smelling like Eddie's mom's underwear.
Eddie: Shut up! That's freaking disgusting.
Bill: She's not dead. She's missing.
Richie: Sorry, Bill. She's missing. You know the Barrens aren't that bad. Who doesn't love splashing around in shitty water? [Patrick walks out behind them; without warning, Henry grabs Richie and pushes him into Stan, knocking them both to the ground; Stan's hat falls off: Patrick picks it up]
Patrick: Nice Frisbee, flamer.
Stanley: Give it back! [Patrick laughs evilly and throws it through the window of a passing school bus]
Patrick: Fucking losers!
[Belch burps at Eddie]
Henry: [bumping Bill as he and his friends walk away] Loser.
Bill: [stuttering angrily] You suck, Bowers!
Eddie: [knowing better than to pick a fight with Henry Bowers] Shut up, Bill.
[Henry, Belch, and Patrick turn around]
Henry: [mockingly] You s-s-s-say something, Bi-Bi-Bi-Billy? You got a free ride this year 'cause of your little brother. [approaches Bill] Ride's over, Denbrough. [Henry looks to his father, who takes off his glasses and looks at his son with a stern facial expression that says "Leave him alone, son."] This summer's gonna be a hurt train for you and your faggot friends. [runs his hand along his tongue and wipes it on Bill's cheek; he, Belch, and Patrick walk off to Belch's car, where Vic is waiting, and the four of them get in the car]
Richie: I wish he'd go missing.
Eddie: He's probably the one doing it.
[At another exit to the school, a chubby student, Ben Hanscom, is getting his bike while holding a display of a historic sight of Derry; behind him, Beverly walks out]
Beverly: You gonna let me go by? Or is there a secret password or something?
Ben: Oh. Um, sorry.
Beverly: Sorry's not a... [Ben drops his display and bends down to pick it up] ...password. [Ben's bike then falls over; Beverly watches him pick it up and try to put his display back together] Henry and his goons are over by the west entrance. So you should be fine.
Ben: Oh, I wasn't...
Beverly: Everyone knows he's looking for you. [Ben nods] What you listening to? [walks up to Ben and takes his headphones off and puts them up to her ears; hears what sounds like pop music and smiles with utmost amusement as she takes them off] New Kids on the Block.
Ben: I don't even like them. I was just...
Beverly: Wait. You're the new kid, right? Now I get it.
Ben: There's nothing to get.
Beverly: I'm just messing with you. [puts Ben's headphones back on his head; he reaches up to try and put them on the right way again] I'm Beverly Marsh.
Ben: Yeah, I know that 'cause we're in the same class. Social Studies. And you were... I'm Ben. But pretty much everybody just calls me...
Beverly: The new kid. Well, Ben, there are worse things to be called. Let me sign this. [takes Ben's yearbook out of his backpack and writes her name in it using her left hand, adding a couple hearts as well] Stay cool, Ben from soc class. [walks away while looking at Ben with a beautiful smile]
Ben: Uh, yeah. You too, Beverly.
Beverly: Hang tough, new kid on the block.
Ben: [laughs] "Please Don't Go, Girl." That's the name of another New Kids on the Block song. [walks off while dragging his headphones along behind him]
Bill: [as he walks his bike home] "He thrusts his fists against the posts..." He thrusts his fists against... Shit! "Post." [he walks into the garage where his father, Zack, is operating a saw; he turns around as Bill enters] Need some help? I...
Zack: I thought we agreed.
Bill: [glancing at a set of hamster tunnels on a table] Before you say anything...
Zack: Bill.
Bill: Just let me show you something first. [he picks up a small green figure and drops it into the tube-like tunnel, then places a hose nozzle inside and turns the hose on; Zack watches as water pushes the little figure through the tubes into a small tray marked "The Barrens" on the floor] The Barrens. It's the only place that Georgie could have ended up.
Zack: He's gone, Bill.
Bill: But if the storm swept Georgie in, we should have gone...
Zack: [standing up] He's gone! He's dead! He's dead! There's nothing we can do! Nothing! Now take this down before your mother sees it. [walks to the wall and takes down a map that Bill put up there] Next time you want to take something from my office... Ask. [he walks out of the garage taking the map with him]
Bill: [glancing at his hamster] I guess you get your tunnels back.

Ben the Bookworm[]

[Mike is biking down the road into town to deliver some meat. Upon reaching the busy streets, he walks his bike to the front of the Quality Meats store and begins to unload the meat; he then looks up and sees Henry Bowers and his buddies driving down the street.]
Henry: Get in!
Woman: Creep!
[Mike immediately goes down a side street, and hides behind a trash can as they drive past]
Mike: Oh, Jesus. [he walks his bike to the deliveries only door of the Quality Meats store, and starts unloading the meat; as he does so, he hears a soft growl behind him and turns around; after a few seconds, the door opens, a burnt hand emerges, and voices are heard]
Woman: Mike! [she screams; more burnt hands emerge; Mike walks towards the door slowly]
Man: Hurry, son!
Woman: Help! It burns!
Man: Mike!
[The hands disappear, and the door bursts open; inside, Mike sees what looks like a sheep hanging from some rope; he breathes nervously; then the shadowy shape of Pennywise appears, and waves at him, as his yellow eyes glow menacingly. Suddenly, Mike hears the revving of a car engine, and looks to his right to see Henry, Belch, Vic, and Patrick speeding straight towards him; Mike quickly jumps out of the way]
Henry: [as blaring rock music is playing on the car's stereo, he stands up through the roof] Stay the fuck outta my town! [throws a cigarette at Mike as Belch gives him the "finger" before they drive off; shortly afterwards, the store manager walks out]
Manager: Mike? Are you okay?
[At the church, Stan is heard reciting something in Hebrew as a police car drives by outside.]

The Barrens[]

[Ben steps out of the library and walks past a statue just a few feet away; standing by the statue is Henry Bowers.]
Henry: Where are you off to, tits? [Ben turns around and notices Henry and tries to run, only to run right into Vic, who grabs him]
Vic: Gotcha!
[Seconds later, Henry, Belch, Vic, and Patrick are dragging Ben along towards a bridge, all talking and laughing.]
Ben: Wait.
Henry: Fucking hold him.
Ben: Leave me alone!
Patrick: Smack him.
Henry: Don't let tubby get away.
Ben: Help!
Patrick: Get him!
Belch: Hold him, Hockstetter.
Vic: Get him, Belch. [Belch pulls Ben's shirt over his head; Vic immediately starts smacking his chest] Ah-la-la-la-la!
Ben: Stop! Just leave me alone.
Belch: Look at all this blubber! [He pulls Ben's shirt off his head]
Patrick: [holding a lighter] Let me light his hair, like Michael Jackson. [he opens the lighter, turns it on, and uses a spray can to emit a blast of flame]
Henry: Just hold him.
Ben: Get off me! Get off me! [the five of them hear a car approaching] Help! [within the car are an elderly man and woman who merely look at them and continue driving] Help! [a red balloon appears in the back of the car] Help! [Henry punches Ben twice, giving him a bloody nose; his ears ring]
Henry: Okay, new kid. [grips Ben viciously] This is what us locals call the Kissing Bridge. It's famous for two things. Sucking face, [Belch puckers up and makes kissing sounds towards Ben, as Henry pulls a knife and opens it] and carving names.
Ben: Henry, please. [Henry ignores Ben and starts cutting his stomach as Ben screams in pain and Belch watches in horror; Vic and Patrick, on the other hand, are enjoying Henry carving an "H" on Ben's stomach]
Belch: Whoa, whoa! Henry!
Henry: Shut up! I'm gonna carve my whole name onto this cottage cheese! [Ben furiously stares Henry in the face before kicking him in the belly; he falls backwards, out of Belch's and Vic's grip, and goes rolling down the hill; Henry, Belch, Vic, and Patrick peer over the railing] I'm gonna cut your fucking tits off! I swear to God! Get him! [Henry, Belch, Vic, and Patrick climb over the railing and give chase] Come on! [Ben continues rolling and tumbling down the hill, coming to a stop as he reaches the bottom, when he hears Henry and his thugs shouting and looks up to see them coming] Get him! You can't run!
Ben: Oh, no! [he runs into the forest as fast as he can]
Henry: We need to find Fatty! [Henry tumbles and rolls down the hill, stopping exactly where Ben was mere seconds ago; he discovers that he lost his knife while tumbling down the hill] My knife. My old man will kill me! [Vic, Patrick, and Belch watch him look for his knife] You two, get him!
Patrick: Come on! [he and Belch go after Ben]
Belch: Okay.
Henry: [looking at Vic, who is merely standing there] Move your fucking ass! [Vic immediately starts rummaging through the leaves, looking for Henry's missing knife]
Patrick: [in the distance, as Ben runs through the forest, trying to escape] He's going that way! Come on! [Ben comes to a section where the path splits to the left and right and takes the path to the left] He's down there.
[The path leads to a stream out in the open; Ben looks to his right and heads in that direction. Seconds later, Belch and Patrick reach the section where the path splits; they look around, wondering which way Ben could have gone; Patrick points to the right, instructing Belch to search that path, before walking down the path to the left. Meanwhile, Ben runs as fast as he can through the water.]
[Bill, Eddie, Richie, and Stan have come to the sewer entrance]
Eddie: I don't know. I guess. [drops his bike as opposed to putting the kickstand down]
Stanley: [pointing at some of the plants around them] That's poison ivy. And that's poison ivy. And that's poison ivy.
Eddie: Where? Where's the poison ivy?
Richie: [turning towards Stan] Nowhere. Not every fucking plant is poison ivy, Stanley.
Eddie: [as Bill and Richie enter the sewers] Okay, well I'm starting to get itchy now and I'm pretty sure this is not good for my...
Richie: Do you use the same bathroom as your mother?
Eddie: Sometimes, yeah.
Richie: Then you probably have crabs.
Eddie: [in the background, as Bill walks into the sewers] That's so not funny.
Richie: [looking back at Eddie and Stanley, who are just standing outside] Aren't you guys coming in?
Eddie: Uh-uh. [points at the water] It's greywater.
Richie: What the hell's greywater?
Eddie: It's basically piss and shit. So I'm just telling you, you guys are splashing around in millions of gallons of Derry pee. So... [Richie picks up a stick and sniffs it] Are you-- Are you serious? What are you...?
Richie: [speaking in a Spanish accent] Doesn't smell like caca to me, señor.
Eddie: Okay, I can smell that from here.
Richie: It's probably just your breath wafting back into your face.
Eddie: [scoffs] Have you ever heard of a staph infection?
Richie: Oh, I'll show you a staph infection.
Eddie: This is so unsanitary. You're literally... This is literally like swimming inside of a toilet bowl right now. [Richie uses his stick to pick up a grimy trash bag] Have you ever heard of Listeria? [Richie grins deviously and throws the trash bag at Eddie; he screams as the bag lands at his feet] Are you-- Are you retarded? [Bill, meanwhile, has discovered an abandoned shoe] You're the reason why we're in this position right now.
Bill: [turning around after examining the shoe] Guys!
Stanley: Shit. Don't tell me that's...
Bill: [as Eddie feels tense] No. Georgie wore galoshes.
Eddie: Whose sneaker is it? [Bill shines his flashlight over the shoe so he and Richie can examine it more closely, and they see the words "B. Ripsom" on it]
Richie: It's Betty Ripsom's.
Eddie: Oh, shit. Oh, God. Oh, fuck! I don't like this.
Richie: How do you think Betty feels? Running around these tunnels with only one frickin' shoe? [lifts his foot off the ground with some amusement and chuckles, then looks at Bill, realizing this is nothing to joke about]
Stanley: What if she's still here?
Richie: [as he and Bill go further into the tunnel] Eddie, come on!
Eddie: My mom will have an aneurysm, okay? If she finds out we're playing down here. I'm serious. Bill?
Bill: [turning to face Eddie] If... If I was Betty Ripsom, I would want us to find me. Georgie too.
Eddie: What if I don't want to find them? I mean, no offense, Bill, but I don't want to end up like... I don't want to go missing, either.
Stanley: He has a point.
Bill: You too?
Stanley: It's summer! We're supposed to be having fun! [Richie looks at Bill and shrugs] This isn't fun. This is scary and disgusting.
[At that moment, Ben collapses from exhaustion in the water behind them. Eddie and Stan jump and turn around at the sound of the splashing water. Ben attempts to stand up, but loses his balance and falls to his knees again.]
Richie: [as he and Bill come out of the tunnel to see Ben] Holy shit. What happened to you? [Ben looks up at them as Eddie and Stan hurry over to help him up]
[Meanwhile, Patrick is walking along the riverbank and looks around for any sign of Ben, but neither he, nor Bill, Richie, Eddie, and Stan are anywhere to be seen, for they left moments before he got there. Hearing a clattering sound, he glances at the sewer entrance; thinking Ben is hiding in there, he shakes his spray can and walks inside.]
Patrick: [walking forward with his spray can and lighter in front of him, he hears more clattering] I hear you, tits. [discharges a jet of fire] Don't think you can stay down here all damn day now. [he suddenly starts hearing voices and sees dark figures walking towards him]
Voices: You found us, Patrick.
[Patrick uses a jet of fire to reveal numerous bloody corpse-like zombies walking towards him; he is horrified.]
Zombie: Patrick.
[Patrick gasps and screams and runs for it, trying to find a way out, tripping in the grimy water, getting blood all over his face and shirt. Hearing the voices laughing in the distance, he turns a corner, only to find his path blocked by a grating.]
Patrick: Fuck! [He grabs a pipe and holds it up defensively in case they find him. A red balloon comes toward him and spins around to read "I Heart Derry". The balloon then pops, and Pennywise appears as children are heard singing. Patrick screams as Pennywise snarls and charges at him, devouring him.]
[Patrick's scream is heard as Bill, Eddie, Richie, and Stan bike through the woods back into town, with Ben riding on the back of Bill's bike.]
Eddie: [as they come out of the woods and into town] I think it's great that we're helping the new kid, but we also need to think of our own safety. I mean, he's bleeding all over and you guys do know that there's an AIDS epidemic happening right now as we speak, right? My mom's friend in New York City got it by touching a dirty pole on the subway. And a drop of AIDS blood got into his system through a hangnail. A hangnail! [they bike into an alley] And you can amputate legs and arms. But how do you amputate a wa-- How do you amputate a waist? [as Bill gets Ben seated on a wooden box and Richie sets his bike down] You guys do know that alleys are known for dirty needles that have AIDS, right? You guys do know that? Hey...
Bill: Ah, we're screwed. Richie, wait here. Come on. [he, Eddie, and Stan run off to get some medical supplies, leaving Richie to keep Ben company]
Richie: Glad I got to meet you before you died. [Ben looks at Richie blankly]
[In the pharmacy, Eddie grabs several items from the shelf for Ben's wounds.]
Bill: Can we afford all that?
Stanley: [holding a few dollar bills] That's all we got.
Eddie: You kidding me?
Bill: Wait, you have an account here, don't you?
Eddie: If my mom finds out I bought all this stuff for myself... I'm spending the whole rest of the weekend in the emergency room getting X-rayed.
[In another aisle, Beverly is buying some Tampax. She then walks out of the aisle and is about to go to the counter to pay for it, when she sees Gretta coming her way.]
Gretta: See you later, Dad.
Mr. Keene: See you, Gretta. [Beverly quickly goes to the next aisle to avoid another round of harassment from Gretta, where she runs into Bill and the others; she hides the Tampax behind her back as Bill and Eddie glance at her.]
Bill: You okay?
Beverly: [as Gretta walks out of the pharmacy behind her] I'm fine. What's wrong with you?
Stanley: None of your business.
Eddie: There's a kid outside. Looked like someone killed him.
Bill: We need some supplies, but we don't have enough money.
[Beverly looks at them for a second, then glances at the counter, looking as though she just came up with an idea.]
Beverly: I like your glasses, Mr. Keene. You look just like Clark Kent.
Mr. Keene: Oh. [chuckles] I don't know about that.
Beverly: Can I try them?
Mr. Keene: Mmm. Sure. [he takes his glasses off and gives them to Beverly; she chuckles and puts them on]
Beverly: What do you think?
Mr. Keene: [even without his glasses, he clearly still has very good eyesight] Well, how about that? You look just like Lois Lane.
Beverly: [laughs] Really?
Mr. Keene: [nods] Mmmm.
Beverly: [taking the glasses off] Well, here you go. [she pushes several packs of Carolina menthol off the counter] Shoot. I'm so sorry.
Mr. Keene: It's okay. [he puts his glasses back on and bends down to pick them up; Beverly then glances over her shoulder at Bill, Eddie, and Stan, who immediately run out while Mr. Keene isn't looking; Beverly then pays for her stuff]

History of Derry[]

[Back in the alley, Eddie is using the things they just stole to attend to Ben's injuries.]
Richie: Just suck the wound.
Eddie: I need to focus right now.
Richie: You need to focus?
Eddie: [as he tries to put the bandage over the "H" on Ben's stomach] Yeah, can you go get me something?
Stanley: Jesus! What do you need?
Eddie: Go get my bifocals. I hid 'em in my second fanny pack. [Bill stands at the alley entrance as he watches them]
Stanley: Why do you have two fanny packs?
Eddie: [as Bill stands at the alley entrance and walks out to the street] I need to focus right now and it's a long story. I don't want to get into it.
[As Bill steps out onto the street and looks to his right, he sees Beverly walking towards him; at the sight of her, he stands there, mouth agape, as she walks right up to him.]
Bill: [smiles for a second, then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a dollar bill] Um, thanks.
Beverly: [holds up a pack of cigarettes, most likely for repelling unwanted guests] Even-steven. [she winks]
Stanley: [from the alley] Oh, God, he's bleeding. Oh, my God!
Beverly: [looks to her left upon hearing his voice and sees Ben sitting there] Ben from soc? [she walks into the alley]
Richie: [as Eddie tries to put the band-aid on Ben] You have to suck the wound before you apply the band-aids. This is 101.
Eddie: You don't know what you're talking about.
Beverly: [walking up to them, followed by Bill, she notices Ben's injuries] Are you okay? That looks like it hurts.
Ben: Oh. No, I'm good. I just... fell.
Richie: Yeah. Right into Henry Bowers.
Bill: Shut it, Richie.
Richie: Why? It's the truth. [Ben just shrugs]
Beverly: You sure they got the right stuff to fix you up? [she smiles at Ben, who smiles back at her]
Bill: You know, we'll take care of him. Uh, thanks again, Beverly.
Beverly: Sure. Maybe I'll see you around.
Bill: Yeah, we were thinking about going to the quarry tomorrow, if you wanna come. [Richie and Ben both look surprised about Bill inviting a girl to join them]
Beverly: Good to know. Thanks. [she smiles and waves at Ben as she walks away]
Stanley: [looking at Richie as Beverly leaves] Nice going bringing up Bowers in front of her.
Eddie: [standing up] Yeah, dude, you heard what she did.
Ben: [confused] What'd she do?
Richie: More like, "Who'd she do?" From what I hear, the list is longer than my wang. [runs his hand along his groin]
Stanley: That's not saying much.
Bill: They're just rumors.
Richie: Anyway, Bill had her back in third grade. [Ben looks up at Bill] They kissed in the school play. [Stanley smiles at Bill] The reviews said you can't fake that sort of passion. [speaks in a British accent and claps his hands] Now, pip-pip and tally-ho, my good fellows, I do believe this chap requires our utmost attention. [pushing Eddie forward] Get in there, Dr. K. Come on, fix him up.
Eddie: [as he bends down to once again work on Ben's injuries] Why don't you shut the fuck up, Einstein, because I know what I'm doing, and I don't want you doing the British guy with me right now.
Richie: [in his British accent] Suck the wound. Get in there.
[At Beverly's apartment, the TV is on, and a hostess is heard speaking in the background.]
Hostess: Toilet and bath water travel down the drains and into the sewer. [the door opens, indicating Beverly has just returned home] [the Hostess is sitting among a group of children] The sewer is a fun place to play with all of your friends. [Beverly quietly closes the door as she steps inside] Just follow the water into the drains and down into the sewers you go. When you're with your friends in the sewers, you can be as silly as a clown! [Beverly looks in the living room to see if her abusive father, Alvin, is there; he's not] That's right, it's the word of the day. [walking down the hallway, Beverly comes face-to-face with her dad]
Beverly: Hi, Daddy.
Alvin: Hey, Bevvie. [glances at the bag in her hands] Whatcha got there?
Beverly: [looks down at her bag and back at him again] Just some things.
Alvin: Like what? [takes the bag from her so he can look inside, then looks at her with a somewhat threatening smile and puts his hand on her neck and lower cheek, then puts his other hand on her hair before gently pulling her closer and sniffing her] Tell me you're still my little girl.
Beverly: Yes, Daddy.
Alvin: [gently pushing her past] Good. [as Beverly goes into her room and Alvin goes to watch TV, a sports announcer is heard on the TV]
Announcer: A deep fly ball to the left. His last at bat. He scratched the foul pole. Wade Boggs, of course, leads the league in hitting so far.
[In the bathroom, Beverly stands at the sink with the water running, shaking and sobbing, sick of her father treating her the way he does. She then picks up a pair of scissors and starts cutting her hair.]
Beverly: [muttering] This is what you did. This is what you... [she snorts in anger] This is...
[She cuts her hair furiously, letting it go down the drain; she continues cutting her hair until it's completely short. She then looks at herself in the mirror.]
[The next day, at the lake, Richie, Stan, Bill, Ben, and Eddie are heard hawking.]
Eddie: Lay it out. [as they stand at the edge of a cliff overlooking the river, Richie spits down into the water and chuckles; Stan follows up]
Richie: Oh, my God. [Bill lets out a more direct spit] So easy.
Eddie: Poor tree. [Ben spits]
Richie: So easy! [Eddie's spit merely lands right at his feet] Oh, my God, that was terrible. I win.
Eddie: You won? [Ben, Bill, and Stan look at Richie]
Richie: Yeah.
Eddie: Did you see my loogie?
Richie: That went the farthest!
Ben: It's by distance.
Eddie: Mass. It's always been mass.
Richie: What the-What is mass?
Eddie: Who cares how far it goes? It matters how cool it looks, like it's green or it's white, or juicy and fat.
Bill: All right.
Eddie: Thanks for that.
Bill: Who's first?
Ben: That was terrible. [they look down at the water between five to ten feet below]
Beverly: I'll go. [the five boys turn around at the sound of her voice as she lets her bike fall on its side, and look at her as she undresses, revealing a white bikini and light blue underwear] Sissies. [she runs right for the edge of the cliff, past the boys, and gracefully jumps off]
Richie: What the fuck?! [Beverly descends toward the water, arms flailing, and hits the water with a perfect entry as the boys watch her from the cliff] Aw, holy shit! We just got showed up by a girl!
Stanley: Do we have to do that now?
Eddie: Yes.
Beverly: Come on!
Stanley: Oh, shit. [Bill smiles and Ben waves at Beverly]
Bill: [jumping into the water after Beverly] Whoo!
[Seconds later, the six of them are having fun splashing each other and just talking. Stan, then Ben, rises from the water, holding Richie on his shoulders, while Bill holds Beverly on his shoulders. Richie and Beverly then try to see who can push the other off.]
Richie: I already won! We already won! [off to the side, Eddie dunks Stan in the water; Richie and Beverly grapple with each other, with Richie pushing Beverly backwards; she falls off Bill's back, into the water, with a yelp] They're down! Yes! [Richie raises his arms victoriously]
[Bill and Beverly watch Ben, Eddie, Richie, and Stan splashing each other for the fun of it. Beverly smiles at Bill, who glances at her, then looks at Ben, who turns toward her.]
Richie: Ah, fuck! What was that? [Bill, Ben, and Beverly glance at the other three boys]
Stan: Something just touched my foot right here. [Eddie, Stan, and Richie look underwater, trying to see what's swimming in their vicinity] That work?
Eddie: [as he, Ben, Richie, and Stan form a circle] Where are we looking?
Richie: [pointing down at the center of the circle] Right here, right here, right here!
Bill: [surfacing after taking a closer look] It's a turtle. [Ben goes underwater so he can see for himself]
[Moments later, Stanley, Richie, Ben, Bill, and Eddie are looking at Beverly as she sunbathes while Young MC's "Bust a Move" plays on her cassette player. Beverly, seemingly knowing they are looking at her, turns toward them; the boys promptly look away and act natural. Eddie, who was standing next to Ben and Bill goes to sit next to Stanley, while Beverly goes into a sitting position and Richie looks in Ben's bag.]
Richie: News flash, Ben. School's out for summer!
Ben: [as Richie reaches into the backpack and pulls out the postcard Ben wrote] Oh, that? That's not school stuff.
Richie: [glancing at the postcard and turning it around] Who sent you this?
Ben: No one. Give it... [grabbing the postcard from Richie] No one.
Richie: [reaching into the backpack and pulling out a book, opening it, and seeing what looks like a newspaper article, covering the Ironworks explosion from the past] What's with the history project?
Ben: [as Stan leans forward to take a closer look as well before Richie hands the book to Bill] Oh... Well, when I first moved here, I didn't really have anyone to hang out with, so I just started spending time in the library.
Richie: [as Bill looks at the article] You went to the library? On purpose?
Beverly: [standing up and walking over to the group] Oh, I wanna see.
Stanley: [as Beverly sits down next to Bill] What's the Black Spot?
Eddie: [as they look at a picture of the Black Spot from 1962] The Black Spot was a nightclub that was burned down years ago by that racist cult.
Stanley: The what?
Eddie: [as Bill looks at Beverly and sees her recently cut hair] Don't you watch Geraldo?
Bill: Your-your-your hair... [Beverly looks at him, like "I don't understand..."]
Ben: Your... Your hair's beautiful, Beverly.
Beverly: [running a hand through her hair and smiling at Ben] Oh. Right. Thanks.
Richie: Here, pass it. [extending his hand to Bill, who hands the book back to him; Stan leans closer to take a look] Why is it all murders and missing kids?
Ben: [as Eddie turns to face him] Derry's not like any town I've ever been in before. They did a study once, and it turns out people die or disappear six times the national average. [Richie looks at Stan, finding that to be very alarming]
Beverly: You read that?
Ben: [as Bill looks at him] And that's just grown-ups. Kids are worse. Way, way worse. [Stan finds that to be very disturbing] I've got more stuff if you wanna see it.
Eddie: [shaking his head and whispering] No, no.
[Bill, Beverly, Ben, Richie, Eddie, and Stan bike to Ben's house; Ben, Beverly, Eddie, Bill, and Richie let their bikes fall to the ground and go inside, while Stan (as usual) puts the kickstand down. As they enter the house, a woman is stapling a Missing poster of Patrick Hockstetter to a post as a freight train goes zooming in the background. Entering his room, Ben grabs a magazine, a shirt, and his underwear, throws them in his closet, and closes it.]
Eddie: Don't freak out, just tell us.
[Beverly, Bill, Stan, Eddie, and Richie enter the bedroom.]
Richie: Yeah. I heard he has a rollercoaster and a pet chimp and an old guy's fucking bones. Yeah. [Stan immediately looks at the stuff on Ben's desk; Richie's attention is drawn to the articles and pictures on the wall] Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wow!
Ben: Cool, huh?
Richie: No. No, nothing cool. There's nothing cool. [Bill looks at one of the cards on the table opposite Ben's bed] Oh, this is cool, right here. Wait, no. No, it's not cool. [Beverly glances at some more articles on the walls]
Stanley: [pointing at a piece of paper] What's that?
Ben: [as Stan, Eddie, and Richie look at him] Oh, that? That's the charter for Derry Township.
Richie: Nerd alert.
Ben: No, actually, it's really interesting. Derry started out as a beaver trapping camp.
Richie: Still is, am I right, boys? [holds up his hand; Stan shakes his head while Eddie merely looks at him]
Ben: [as Beverly looks at the articles next to the door] Ninety-one people signed the charter that made Derry. But later that winter, they all disappeared without a trace.
Eddie: The entire camp?
Ben: [as Bill looks puzzled] There were rumors of Indians, but no sign of an attack. Everybody just thought it was a plague or something. [a picture of the camp is displayed; on the far left is a figure resembling Pennywise] But it's like one day everybody just woke up and left. [Beverly is looking at the other side of the bedroom door in the background] The only clue was a trail of bloody clothes leading to the Well House.
Richie: [as Beverly closes the door to reveal what's on the other side] Jesus. We can get Derry on Unsolved Mysteries.
Eddie: [as Ben turns around to the sound of the door creaking] Let's do that. You're brilliant.
Richie: I might be. [Beverly reveals that Ben has a New Kids on the Block poster on the back of his bedroom door; Ben mouths at Beverly as she smiles at him and opens the door while the boys talk amongst themselves] I don't know. [Bill continues examining the stuff on the table] Maybe he's just trying to make some friends, Stanley.
Bill: Where was the Well House?
Ben: I don't know. Somewhere in town, I guess. Why?
Bill: [glancing at the articles on the wall] Nothing.

Terrifying Sights[]

[Eddie is walking past a church as a choir is singing a spiritual song inside]
Choir: Nobody knows the trouble I've seen, Nobody knows my sorrow
[As Eddie walks past the church, he goes right past a sign displaying the street names; the street he just came from was Turner St., and the street he is now walking down is Neibolt Street. As he walks, he plays his hand flute. He eventually comes to the foreboding Well House. His watch beeps, indicating it is time to take his pill; he glances at the house, which looks anything but inviting. He prepares to take his pill when the door opens and a growling sound is heard from inside before a hoarse male voice speaks to him.]
Male Voice: Eddie... What are you looking for? [Eddie drops his pillbox, spilling pills everywhere; he gets to his knees to pick them up]
Eddie: [softly] Fuck. My mom's gonna fucking flip. [he mumbles as he attempts to collect his pills; just as he is about to grab his last pill, a bandaged and decaying hand beats him to it]
Leper: Do you think this will help me, Eddie? [he leans closer to Eddie, growling and muttering; horrified, Eddie jumps backwards into a sitting position and crawls backwards on his hands towards the gate, and gets to his feet and runs for it as the Leper chases him]
Eddie: Help! Help! [Running around the house, he trips, but quickly gets back up. Racing to the fence, screaming, he turns around to see the Leper is gone; in his place is Pennywise, holding up a bunch of red balloons. The balloons rise, showing It's face; he smiles malevolently at Eddie, who just stands there, paralyzed with fear.]
Pennywise: Where you going, Eds? If you lived here, you'd be home by now. [Eddie just stands by the fence, mouth agape] Come join the clown, Eds. You'll float down here. We all float down here. Yes, we do. [he laughs evilly; Eddie screams and attempts to crawl through a hole in the fence; looking back at the sound of balloons popping, he sees Pennywise has vanished; shaken, he scrambles for the hole]
[That evening, Beverly returns to her apartment. Going into her room, she sits on her bed and opens her backpack to take a book out and drops something on the floor. Looking down to see what she dropped, she finds a postcard, the same one Ben wrote for her. She goes to the bathroom and locks the door so she can read it in private, then sits in the bathtub.]
Beverly: Your hair is winter fire... January embers... My heart burns there, too. [she puts the postcard up to her upper chest and smiles; next second, she hears a girl's voice whispering from the sink]
Female Voice: Beverly. Beverly. [Beverly sits up, puts the postcard down, stands up, and approaches the sink] Help me. Help me, please. [several voices speak at once]
Voices: We all want to meet you, Beverly. We all float down here.
Beverly: [peering into the drain] Hello? Who are you?
Voice 1: I'm Veronica.
Voice 2: Betty Ripsom.
Voice 3: Patrick Hockstetter.
Veronica's Voice: Come closer.
Betty's Voice: Wanna see?
Veronica's Voice: We float.
Patrick's Voice: [hoarsely] We change. [distorted cackling is heard; Beverly glances at the locked door]
[Beverly goes into the living room, where her father is asleep in front of the TV, and grabs a tape measure. Going back into the bathroom, she starts lowering it into the drain. Suddenly, the tape rattles and a giggle is heard. Beverly tries to lower it further, but it won't go any further; she then starts pulling it back up. The end of the tape comes out covered in blood and with a thread of clotted blood stuck to it. Suddenly, the clotted blood wraps around Beverly's wrist like a tendril. She attempts to get the tendril off, but another one shoots out of the drain, grabbing her other wrist; the tendrils pull her arms to her sides. Without warning, multiple tendrils emerge from the drain, wrapping themselves around Beverly, pulling her closer to the drain as she screams.]
Beverly: Daddy! Help! Help!
[Blood oozes out of the drain, then shoots out like a fountain, right in Beverly's face and all over the bathroom, even getting on the postcard Ben intended for Beverly, who jumps away from the sink. Whimpering, sobbing, and screaming, Beverly backs away from the sink, over to the bathtub. The blood continues shooting out of the sink, then stops, and the tendrils retract.]
Alvin: [enters the bathroom, obviously awakened by his daughter's shrieking] What the hell's going on? [he doesn't notice any of the blood all over the bathroom]
Beverly: [glances at him and shakily stutters] Th-Th-The sink... [he steps into the bathroom as she stutters] And the blood... It's...
Alvin: [still oblivious to the mess] What blood?
Beverly: The sink. You don't see it? [she stammers as he glances around the bathroom] There was blood. [she stammers and mumbles, still very traumatized by what just happened, as he approaches her]
Alvin: [looking at her with a very disturbed facial expression] You worry me, Bevvie. You worry me a lot.
Beverly: [whispering] But don't you see?
Alvin: [extending his hand to her hair] Why'd you do this to your hair? Makes you look like a boy. [Beverly sits there speechlessly as he walks out of the bathroom and closes the door, then sobs shakily]
[At Bill's house, water drips from the ceiling, onto his artwork of Beverly, right next to him in his bed as he sleeps, then it drips on him, waking him up as thunder rumbles outside. Getting out of bed, he goes to the hallway closet and collects a bucket to deal with the dripping water. As he closes the closet door and carries the bucket to his room, the light in Georgie's bedroom suddenly turns on, getting his attention. Putting down the bucket, he walks into his late little brother's room and looks around. He walks in and picks up Georgie's Lego model of a turtle and sits on his bed, sobbing softly, still unable to believe he's really dead. A shadow is seen on the door, then disappears; Bill looks up at the sound of running footsteps, then stands up and walks out of the room and sees footprints going downstairs. Bill follows the footprints down the stairs, stopping a few feet from the kitchen, where he sees a small figure clad in a yellow raincoat run into the basement. He gasps and drops the model, which breaks on the floor.]
Bill: [silently and in disbelief] Georgie. [fear spreading up his spine, he walks into the kitchen to the basement door, which is wide open, then slowly walks down the stairs into the basement, which is filled with water; in the corner, next to the shelf, stands Georgie, or is it? Bill can hardly believe his eyes]
"Georgie": I lost it, Billy. Don't be mad.
Bill: I-I-I-I'm not mad at you. ["Georgie" stands there, with a sort of evil smile on his face; Bill quivers]
"Georgie": [stepping away from the shelf] It just floated off. But, Bill, if you'll come with me, you'll float, too.
Bill: [softly] Georgie.
"Georgie": [chuckling evilly] You'll float, too. You'll float, too. You'll float, too. You'll float, too. You'll float, too. [his voice deepens and his face starts to decay] You'll float, too. You'll float, too. [Pennywise rises from the water behind "Georgie"] You'll float, too. [his voice becomes distorted] You'll float, too! You'll float, too! [Pennywise repeats the phrase in the same distorted voice]
Pennywise: You'll float, too! You'll float, too! [pushes "Georgie" underwater, with blood appearing in that very spot while speaking in his normal voice] You'll float, too! [Bill stand there, horrified by what he's seeing. Pennywise roars and charges at Bill; he panics and runs back upstairs as Pennywise nearly grabs him and closes the door to the basement. Pennywise then slithers away.]

Misunderstood Beverly[]

[The next morning, Beverly is sitting on the steps, smoking a cigarette as a usual means of keeping her dad at bay.]
Stanley: No, we gotta go through the alleyway.
Eddie: The alley takes way too long.
Stanley: No, the alley is so much faster. [hearing them, Beverly gets up and runs to the railing]
Eddie: The alley is more dangerous and it's disgusting.
Stanley: How is it more dangerous?
Eddie: [as Beverly gets rid of her cigarette] It smells like piss and it's gross. Just take the side streets for once.
Stanley: Oh, my god. The side streets are the same. They smell like piss and shit.
Eddie: [as Beverly runs down the stairs past another girl sitting on the steps] Okay, okay. Can you just tell me what she said exactly?
Stanley: She didn't say anything. She just said that you guys need to hurry over.
Eddie: [as Beverly reaches the bottom and meets with them as they arrive] She didn't say anything. Okay. Okay.
Beverly: You made it. I... I need to show you something.
Ben: What is it?
Richie: More than we saw at the quarry?
Eddie: Shut up! Just shut up, Richie.
Beverly: My dad will kill me if he finds out I had boys in the apartment.
Bill: Then we'll leave a lookout. Richie, stay here.
Richie: [as Bill, Eddie, Ben, and Stan leave their bikes and accompany Beverly to the apartment] Whoa, whoa, whoa! What if her dad comes back?
Stanley: [glancing at Richie as Ben, Bill, Eddie, and Beverly ascend the steps] Do what you always do. Start talking. [turns and follows the others up the stairs]
Richie: It is a gift.
Beverly: [leading Bill, Eddie, Ben, and Stan into the hallway towards the bathroom] In there.
Stanley: [glancing at the closed bathroom door] What is it?
Beverly: You'll see.
Eddie: [as they walk towards the bathroom] Are you taking us to your bathroom?

Afraid of Something[]

[They are in the park; Ben, Beverly, Stan, and Mike are sitting on the bench, while Bill, Eddie, and Richie are seated on their bikes]
Eddie: OK, so, let me get this straight: It comes out from wherever to eat kids for like, a year, and then what? It just goes into hibernation?
Stanley: Maybe it's like, what do you call it... Cicadas. You know, the bugs that come out every seventeen years.
Mike: My grandfather thinks this town is cursed. [the others look surprised] He says that all the bad things that happen in this town are because of one thing... an evil thing that feeds off the people of Derry.
Stanley: But it can't be one thing. We all saw something different.
Mike: Maybe. Or maybe It knows what scares us most, and that's what we see.
Eddie: I-I saw a Leper. He was like a walking infection.
Stanley: But you didn't. Because it isn't real. Not Eddie's Leper, or-or Bill seeing Georgie, or the woman I keep seeing.
Richie: [smiles with amusement] She hot?
Stanley: [looks at Richie, unamused] No, Richie. She's not hot! Her face is all messed up. None of this makes any sense! They're all like bad dreams.
Mike: I don't think so. I know the difference between a bad dream and real life, okay?
Eddie: What'd you see, you saw something, too?
Mike: Yes. You guys know that burned down house on Harris Avenue? I was inside when it burned down. Before I was rescued, my mom and dad were trapped in the next room over from me. They were pushing and pounding on the door, trying to get to me. [the sound of Mike's mother screaming is heard in his mind] But it was too hot. [Mike's parents saying "Hurry, son!" and "It burns!" and his mother screaming ring in his mind] When the firemen finally found them, the skin on their hands had melted down to the bone. We're all afraid of something.
Eddie: [as Richie glances over his shoulder at the clowns and children on the stage behind him at the sound of a firecracker whizzing] You got that right. All right, Rich, what are you afraid of?
Richie: [turning away from the stage as the crackers continue bursting and adjusting his glasses before looking at the others] Clowns.

The Well House[]

[The front door creaks open as Bill, Eddie, and Richie enter the house. Looking around, Richie sees something in a room to his left, and walks closer to get a better look.]

Split Up/Familial Tension[]

[Arriving at Eddie's house, his mother furiously pulls him to her side and points an accusing finger at Bill and the others.]
Sonia: You. You did this. You know how delicate he is! [takes Eddie past Bill and Beverly to her car]
Bill: We were attacked, Mrs. K.
Sonia: No. Don't. Don't try and blame anyone else. [puts Eddie in the car and closes the door; fumbling, she drops her car keys]
Beverly: [stepping forward to pick them up for her] Let me help.
Sonia: [holds out her hand, forcing Beverly back] Get back! [steps forward and glares at Beverly] Oh, I've heard of you, Miss Marsh. And I don't want a dirty girl like you touching my son.
Bill: [stepping forward, trying to clear up the misunderstanding] Mrs. K, I swear, I...
Sonia: [spinning around and pointing a finger at the group] No! You are all monsters. All of you. And Eddie is done with you. Do you hear? Done! [she furiously stomps around her car to the driver's seat and gets in as Eddie sits in the car, crying; Bill, Beverly, Richie, Ben, Stan, and Mike remorsefully stand there as she drives away before stepping into the street, watching her drive off]
Bill: [turning around to face the group] I saw the well. We know where It is and next time we'll be better prepared.
Stanley: No! No next time, Bill! You're insane!
Beverly: Why? We all know no one else is going to do anything.
Richie: Eddie was nearly killed! [gestures towards the wounds on Ben's stomach] And look at this motherfucker. He's leaking hamburger helper!
Beverly: We can't pretend It's gonna go away. Ben, you said it yourself, It comes back every twenty-seven years.
Ben: Fine! I'll be 40 and far away from here. I thought you said you wanted to get out of this town, too.
Beverly: Because I wanna run towards something. Not away!
Richie: [gesturing toward Beverly] I'm sorry, who invited Molly Ringwald into the group? [Beverly scowls at Richie while sticking up her middle finger]
Stanley: Richie...
Richie: I'm just saying, let's face facts. Real world. Georgie is dead. Stop trying to get us killed, too.
Bill: [getting angry] Georgie's not dead.
Richie: You couldn't save him, but you can still save yourself.
Bill: No, take it back. You're scared and we all are, but take it back! [pushes Richie back; enraged, Richie runs forward and pushes Bill, who slaps (or punches) Richie, knocking him to the ground]
Beverly: Bill!
Richie: [as Stan and Mike help him to his feet] You're just a bunch of losers! Fuck off!
Stanley: [as he and Mike restrain Richie] Richie, stop.
Ben: [restraining Bill as he attempts to hit Richie again] Bill, stop.
Richie: You're just a bunch of losers and you'll get yourselves killed trying to catch a fucking stupid clown!
Beverly: Stop! [Mike and Stan let go of Richie and face her; Ben releases Bill and gives her his attention as well] This is what It wants. It wants to divide us. We were all together when we hurt It. That's why we're still alive!
Richie: Yeah? Well, I plan to keep it that way. [he angrily walks past Bill, bumping him as he goes; Stan walks off as well; Ben scowls at Bill and Beverly before he, too, goes to get his bike]
Beverly: [as Mike walks past her and Bill] Mike...
Mike: [sadly turning around as Richie, Stan, and Ben ride off on their bikes] Guys... I can't do this. [holds his hands out] My granddad was right. I'm an outsider. Gotta stay that way. [goes to get his bike; Bill and Beverly sadly look at each other, knowing that their group is down to two now]
[Days later, a depressed Beverly is sitting in her room, playing an electronic piano; Bill is sadly sitting in his kitchen all alone; Stan is at the church giving a speech before a crowd of people, among them is Richie, who Stan glances at and gives a slight smile before frowning again; at the abattoir, one of the aides pushes a sheep forward and lowers the gate before Mike shoots it; Ben is sitting in the library, all alone, and glances at a painting on the wall; back at her apartment, Beverly is soaking in the bathtub and sees one drop of blood, most likely missed when she, Bill, Stan, Ben, and Eddie were cleaning the bathroom, on the floor.]
[It is August; a bottle of Tennessee's Best is sitting on a stump with remnants of another bottle there as well. There is a gunshot, and the bottle shatters; Henry and his friends are using his dad's gun for target practice.]
Belch: Yeah! Bonus!
Henry: Yeah, there we go. Put the next target out there. [points at a cat nearby; Belch glances at him, disgusted that he wants to kill a cat, then goes and picks up the nervous feline; Henry points the gun directly at the cat] Just hold it. [the cat, now scared, meows in fear, trying to escape as Belch holds it; as Henry prepares to pull the trigger, his father approaches]
Oscar: What the hell's going on here? [Henry lowers the gun as Vic stands up]
Henry: Just cleaning your gun, like you asked.
Oscar: [looks at his son firmly] You're cleaning my gun, huh?
Henry: Dad...
Oscar: Hey! [Belch and Vic silently stand behind Henry; he takes a few steps away from Henry, then shoots at the ground near his feet, making him cringe] Look at him now, boys. Ain't nothing like a little fear to make a paper man crumble. [walks away as Henry cringes]
[At the pharmacy, Eddie, now wearing a cast on his broken right arm, walks up to the counter.]
Mr. Keene: [as Eddie reaches the counter] You here for the refills, Eddie?
Eddie: [nods] Yeah. [Mr. Keene goes to collect the refills; sitting at the counter is Gretta, reading a magazine]
Gretta: [looking up from her magazine at Eddie] You know it's all bullshit, right?
Eddie: [looking at Gretta] What is?
Gretta: Your medication. They're placebos.
Eddie: What's placebo mean?
Gretta: Placebo means bullshit. [Eddie looks at her then glances at his cast] No friends, huh? Your cast. No signatures or anything? [pretends to wipe a tear from her eye] So sad.
Eddie: [looks at her] I didn't want it to get dirty.
Gretta: I'll sign it for you. [Eddie looks at her as she gets up, walks over to him, grabs a Sharpie pen while blowing bubble gum, then starts writing on Eddie's cast; he smiles slightly as she does; she, however, looks at him with a devious facial expression]
[Meanwhile, Henry is sitting against the front bumper of Belch's car, while Vic and Belch stand next to the car.]
Vic: You okay, Henry? [Henry is still very furious about how his father embarassed him in front of his friends. As kids are heard laughing in the distance, Henry stands up and walks to his mailbox, where a red balloon is sticking out. Glancing at the balloon curiously, he opens the mailbox and finds a package inside. The red balloon is tied around the package, which he rips open, revealing a small red box, opening it, he finds his knife, which he lost while chasing Ben over a month ago. As the laughter continues, he takes the knife out, and pushes the button, causing the blade to stick out.]
TV Hostess: [as Henry looks in through the window and enters his house] And this is my most favorite part of the afternoon. Getting to know all about so many of you. Is there someone here that wants to share with us what they most enjoyed about today?
Girl on TV: Me!
Hostess: [as Henry steps inside and looks at his father sleeping in a chair] What about you?
Girl: I liked seeing the clown.
Hostess: You did? You liked the clown?
Kids on TV: Yes!
Hostess: [as Henry approaches his sleeping father] What about the rest of you?
Boy on TV: I liked when the bubbles float.
Hostess: You did? Me too. [Henry glances at the TV] I just love watching things float.
Boys on TV: We all float.
Hostess: [sitting in the middle of a group of kids] That's right. [looks at Henry] And you will, too, Henry. Make it a wonderful day. [a close up of her smiling face is shown] Kill him.
Hostess and Kids: [as Henry holds his knife to his father's throat] Kill him. Kill him. Kill him. Kill him. [they're looking at him with eager expectation] Kill him. Kill him. [Henry extends the blade, stabbing his father in the throat; his eyes open immediately]
Announcer on TV: Oh, no! Give him a big round of applause! [Officer Bowers struggles to remove the knife as blood splatters in Henry's face; he pushes his father's head.]
Hostess: Well done, Henry.
Hostess, Kids, and Pennywise: Kill them all. Kill them all. [the Hostess walks away, revealing Pennywise sitting among the children; blood starts running down Oscar's shirt as he struggles] Kill them all! Kill them all! Kill them all! [Henry glances at Pennywise on the TV; he smiles maliciously] Kill them all! Kill them all! Kill them all! Kill them all!
Kids: [as Henry looks at the TV] Kill them all! Kill them all! Kill them all! [Henry turns and walks away from his dead father]
[Meanwhile, in her room, Beverly is writing something in her notebook; she then puts the notebook in her backpack, slings the backpack over her shoulder, and walks into the living room to the front door. As she unlocks the door, she notices a padlock has been placed on the door as well.]
Alvin: [in the background] Where are you sneaking off to? [Beverly turns around to face him as he sits in a red armchair at the table]
Beverly: [looks at him and stammers] Nowhere, Daddy.
Alvin: You're looking prettied up.
Beverly: [starting to feel uneasy] I'm not prettied up, Daddy. I wear this almost every day.
Alvin: [gestures with his hand for her to come over to him] Come. [Beverly puts her backpack down and walks over to him; he holds his hand out and she puts her hand in his; he closes his fingers around hers] You know I worry about you, Bevvie.
Beverly: I know.
Alvin: [looking into her eyes] People in town have been saying some things to me about you. Sneaking around all summer long with a bunch of boys. The only girl in the pack.
Beverly: They're just friends, I swear.
Alvin: [grips her hand tightly] I know what's in boys' minds when they look at you, Bevvie. I know all too well. [tightens his grip]
Beverly: My hand...
Alvin: Are you doing womanly things down in the woods with those boys?
Beverly: No, no, no, nothing. You don't have to worry. I promise.
Alvin: [holds up the postcard Ben gave to Beverly, which still has some spots of blood on it] What's this?
Beverly: [feeling more uneasy] It's nothing. It's just a poem.
Alvin: [lowers the postcard] Just a poem? But you had to hide it in your underwear drawer. [Beverly tries to pull her hand free, but Alvin tightens his grip further as he starts to get angry] Why would you have to hide it there? [Beverly begins to breathe shakily] Are you still my girl?
Beverly: [angrily looking him in the eyes] No.
Alvin: [as Beverly struggles to pull her hand out of his grasp] What did you say?
Beverly: [her anger reaches a boiling point as she shouts at him] I said, no! [she pulls her hand out of his grasp and falls backwards over an ironing board] No! [Alvin furiously gets up from his chair as Beverly fearfully backs away from him] Get away, no! [he grabs her feet in his anger] Get off! No!
Alvin: [grabbing her around the back and looking her in the face] Those boys. Do they know that you're my--
[Beverly kicks him in the balls; he groans in pain and clutches his groin. She then kicks him in the face. As he recoils, Beverly runs to the bathroom, closes the door, and locks it, shaken by the confrontation she just had. Alvin walks into the hallway, then glances to his right, at the closed bathroom door, walks toward it, and tries to open it, only to find that it's locked. He turns around, walks away, then turns toward the door again and kicks it open. He walks into the bathroom, looking around for Beverly, before turning his attention to the closed shower curtain and pulling it open. The second he opens the curtain, Beverly viciously bashes him in the head with a toilet tank lid; he falls to the floor. Beverly, shaken by what she just did to him, steps out of the bathtub and drops the destroyed toilet tank lid as he lays on the floor with a serious head injury as blood pours from his wound. Beverly looks at him for a few seconds, then as she turns to leave the bathroom, she comes face-to-face with Pennywise, who grabs her by the throat.]

Losers Club To The Rescue[]

[Bill bikes up to the historic Derry sight, the same one Ben had a display of, and checks his watch, then continues on to Beverly's place.]
Bill: Beverly? [he goes to the bathroom where he finds her father unconscious and still bleeding, then goes to Beverly's bedroom where he sees bloody writing on the wall that reads "You Die If You Try"; Bill realizes in horror that Pennywise has taken Beverly, and runs out of the apartment to look for the others] Beverly!
[Moments later, Bill races to the movie theater. In the arcade, Richie is playing Street Fighter as Bill enters.]
Bill: Richie!
Richie: [glances at Bill for a split second as he runs up to him and turns his attention back to the game] What do you want? You see that guy I'm hitting? I'm pretending it's you.
Bill: I-It got Beverly.
Richie: [focusing on the game] What are you talking about?
Bill: It, Richie. It got Beverly.
[Richie stops playing as he realizes what Bill is talking about and turns to face him with a horrified facial expression, as if to say "Are you serious, Bill?"; Bill looks back at him with a very serious facial expression. Meanwhile, Eddie is at home, writing something down, when the phone rings; he gets up and answers it.]
Eddie: Hello? [on the other end, Bill (or Richie) tells him that Beverly has been kidnapped, and ask him to meet up on the way to the Well House] Okay. I'll meet you there. [hangs up the phone and heads for the front door when his mom suddenly steps in front of him]
Sonia: And just where do you think you're off to?
Eddie: Out with my friends.
Sonia: Sweetie, you can't go. You're getting over your sickness, remember?
Eddie: My sickness? Okay, what sickness, Ma? [reaches into his pocket and pulls out his bottle of pills] You know what these are? They're gazebos! [furiously throws the bottle onto the floor] They're bullshit!
Sonia: [glances down at the pills Eddie just spilled all over the floor and looks up at him again] They help you, Eddie. I had to protect you.
Eddie: [staring hard at her] Protect me? By lying to me? By keeping me locked inside this hellhole?! I'm sorry, but the only people that were actually trying to protect me were my friends. And you made me turn my back on them when I really needed them. So I'm going. [walks right past her]
Sonia: Eddie. Eddie. No. [Eddie runs right out the front door, with his mother chasing after him] You get back here!
Eddie: [glancing back at her as he leaves] Sorry, mom, I gotta go save my friends!
Sonia: [breaking down in tears] Eddie! Don't do this to me, Eddie!
[Soon after, the reunited group is en route to the Well House; Mike is smart enough to have brought the gun that he uses for killing sheep. Arriving at the Well House, they dismount and leave their bikes in the street and walk up to the house.]
Bill: Guys, spikes. [Eddie removes his fanny pack and tosses it aside; Bill picks up two metal poles with spikes on the end and puts them together; Richie picks up a beer bottle, smashes it against the stairs, and casually throws it aside; nearby, Henry, sitting in Belch's car, watches the six boys enter the foreboding house]
Ben: Stan? [Bill, Richie, Ben, Eddie, and Mike turn around to face Stan, who is just standing at the door]
Bill: Stan, we all have to go. [Stan continues standing where he is, afraid to follow them inside] Beverly was right. If we split up like last time, that clown will kill us one by one. But if we stick together, all of us, we'll win. I promise. [Stan, now understanding that teamwork is their only chance of helping Beverly, steps inside and joins the group; Bill leads them into the basement where he saw the well during their previous incursion.]
Richie: [as they walk up to the well] Hey, Eddie, you got a quarter?
Eddie: I wouldn't want to make a wish in that fucking thing.
Ben: [peering down into the well] Beverly? [his voice echoes; Richie looks at him as if to say "Ben, do you really think she can hear you from down there?"]
Mike: How are we supposed to get down there? [Bill turns around to see a lengthy rope laying on the floor; seconds later, the rope is secured to the pulley as Richie throws it down] All right. Come on. [Bill steps up and grabs hold of the rope, carefully descending into the well; Eddie climbs up to go in next] All right. [Bill descends until he sees a big hole in the wall, a passageway]
[Meanwhile, in another room, blood drips onto the floor, and onto Beverly's cheek as she lays unconscious on the floor; she wakes up, looking around, like "Where am I?"; slowly walking around a massive pile of toys, she almost loses her balance and peers down into a deep hole before her legs give way, causing her to fall into a puddle; she looks up to see a wall emblazoned with Pennywise's face, and the words "PENNYWISE THE DANCING CLOWN"; getting to her feet, she looks up to see numerous bodies levitating high in the air around the mountain of toys; these are the kids Pennywise has kidnapped throughout the summer. Realizing she is now inside Pennywise's inner sanctum, Beverly runs to a nearby doorway and struggles to open it.]
Ben: [he is now descending into the well] Guys, guys. Help. [Bill and Richie pull him into the passage]
Richie: You all right, buddy?
Ben: Yeah, I'm okay.
[Beverly is still struggling to open the door when she hears a voice on speakers]
Pennywise: Step right up, Beverly. Step right up! [Beverly turns around as she hears a music box playing] Come change. Come float. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll cheer. You'll die. Introducing Pennywise the Dancing Clown. [he laughs maniacally as a musical jack in the box with his face on it winds up, and a spring-up replica of Pennywise emerges; the wall then lowers, revealing what looks like a musical stage; smoke emits from the stage as circus music starts playing and Pennywise emerges and starts dancing around; Beverly watches him before seeing a wide open hatch; she makes a run for the hatch, but Pennywise jumps out with lightning speed and grabs her by the throat, laughing evilly]
Beverly: [looking It in the eye as she struggles] I'm not afraid of you.
Pennywise: [pulls Beverly closer, sniffs at her, looks away briefly, then stares her in the face again] You will be. [his mouth folds upwards, revealing numerous sharp teeth, and three bright orange lights, as the voice of a boy screaming "Help me!" is heard; the lights cause Beverly's eyes to become glossy, and her facial expression goes blank as she slowly rises into the air]
[Meanwhile, Mike is just about to follow Bill, Richie, Eddie, Ben, and Stan into the well, not seeing Henry standing silently behind him; Henry suddenly attacks Mike from behind, causing him to scream, getting the others' attention.]
Henry: [throwing Mike backwards] Die! [his gun lands next to him on the ground; Bill, Ben, Richie, Eddie, and Stan return to the passage's entrance, looking up for any sign of Mike]
Ben: Mike!
Stanley: Mike!
Eddie: Mike!
Stanley: You okay? Mike! [Henry appears at the top of the well looking down at them] Bowers.
Richie: Mike. Fuck. [Henry laughs evilly]
Stanley: Mike!
Ben: Where is he? [Henry laughs again]
Richie: We're next. [Henry grabs the rope and starts pulling it up]
Stanley: No, no, no! Grab it!
Eddie: Get the rope! Get the rope! [the rope is pulled out of their reach before they can grab it] Oh, shit. [Henry throws the rope aside as Mike lays on the ground]
Bill: Mike!
Richie: Mike! [Henry turns to face Mike] Leave him alone!
Henry: You didn't listen to what I told you, did you? You should've stayed out of Derry. Your parents didn't and look what happened to them. I still get sad every time I pass by that pile of ashes. Sad, that I couldn't have done it myself. [Mike stares hard at Henry, feeling anger boiling up inside him, then reaches to grab his gun]
Stanley: Run, Mike! [Henry immediately grabs Mike; the two of them struggle]
Stanley, Bill, Richie, Ben, Eddie: Mike!
Henry: Fuck down!
Bill: I should get up there.
Eddie: Are you insane?! With what?! [sitting on Mike, Henry grabs his gun, cocks it, and puts it to his forehead; but miraculously, Mike manages to push Henry's gun arm away, just as he pulls the trigger, much to Henry's shock; Mike grabs a rock and hits Henry with it; getting to his feet, Mike furiously charges at Henry while screaming, and pushes him into the well; Henry hits the wall and plummets into the depths]
Richie: [as Henry falls past them, screaming] Holy shit! [Mike appears at the top of the well as Bill, Eddie, Richie, and Ben look down at where Henry fell]
Bill: Oh, my--
Eddie: Mike!
Mike: I'm okay. [the five of them breathe sighs of relief] I'm okay. [putting his extra ammo on the side of the well, he reloads his gun; suddenly his extra ammo slides down into the well, and he tries to grab it without success] Shoot! [his ammo falls down the well as he stares down in disappointment]

Pennywise's Hideout[]

Creepy Voice: Stanley... [Stan turns around, shining his flashlight down the tunnel]
Stanley: Beverly? Is that you? [suddenly, Pennywise appears at the end of the tunnel; next thing Stan knows, he's been separated from Bill, Richie, Ben, Eddie, and Mike, standing in an empty chamber, with flowing water, pipes, and passageways] Guys? [he shines his light around the room] Guys?
[Meanwhile, Eddie turns around and notices Stan is missing]
Eddie: What?
Richie: Guys, where's Stan?
Eddie: Stanley! Stanley! Stan! [they move through the tunnel, into a water-filled corridor] Oh, shit. Greywater. Stan?
[Ben and Bill carefully enter the corridor]
Bill: Stan!
Eddie: Stanley! [the five of them journey through the corridor; Stan continues looking around the room he inexplicably ended up in when he hears footsteps; suddenly, the flute lady comes right for him with her mouth full of sharp teeth open; from a distance, the others hear Stan scream]
Mike: Stan!
Richie: Shit! Stan!
Eddie: Stanley! [they reach a door, which they struggle to open]
Bill: We're coming, man!
Eddie: We're coming! Don't worry. [Bill, Richie, Ben, and Mike forcefully push the door open, entering the room where Stan ended up]
Bill: Stan?
Eddie: Stanley! Stan! [sees his flashlight on the floor] His flashlight! [grabs the flashlight, and goes around the corner to see the flute lady trying to eat Stan's face off; the five react with horror]
Richie: What the fuck is that thing? Oh, shit. [the flute lady looks up at them, and backs away as Eddie screams] Oh, shit. [the flute lady disappears around the corner, a second later, Pennywise appears in her place] Oh, shit! Oh, shit!
Boys: Stanley! Stanley! Stan! Stanley!
Stanley: [sitting up in utmost panic] No! No! No!
Bill: It's okay.
Stanley: You left me! You took me into Neibolt! You're not my friends! You made me go into Neibolt!
Eddie: Stanley, I'm sorry.
Stanley: You made me go into Neibolt! This is your fault. [Bill looks to his right and sees a figure that appears to be Georgie standing in front of a passageway, before the figure runs down the passage; Bill gives chase]
Boys: We would never let anything happen to you. We're here for you. You know we wouldn't do that to you. Come on.
Eddie: [looking up to see now Bill is gone] Bill! Bill!
Mike: Bill!
Eddie: Bill! [the five head into the passage that Bill just went into]
[Bill runs down the passage, and sees "Georgie" go down another tunnel, which leads to the room where Beverly was earlier; through the wide open hatch, Bill can see the numerous children's belongings; as he moves forward, he sees Beverly levitating.]
Bill: Beverly! [he runs to her and looks up at her as she remains suspended in midair, still wearing a blank facial expression and glossy eyes; he jumps up trying to grab her, to no avail; he then grabs a wooden box from the mountain of toys to use as a block to reach her when he sees "Georgie" standing on the other side of a pit; he runs off] I'll come back for you, Bev. [he continues following "Georgie"]
Stan: Bill! [he and the others are still following Bill's trail]
Eddie: Bill! [turning to the left, into another water-filled path] Bill! [he suddenly falls in the water]
Richie: Come on. Get out of there, dude. That's greywater.
Eddie: Wait, wait, wait. Oh, my god. Where's my fucking flashlight?! [they then see mutilated human heads in the water]
Richie: Eddie! [though horrified by the sight of the mutilated heads, they continue following the tunnels] Come on, let's get the fuck out of here! Come on!
[In Pennywise's Lair, Bill continues walking along the mountain of toys, and stops after seeing "Georgie" through a wall of water flowing into a deep hole.]
Mike: [the others have reached the lair, and immediately glimpse Beverly in midair through the open hatch as they approach it] Bev? Bev?
Eddie: Beverly?
Ben: Beverly?
Richie: Holy shit.
Ben: Bev.
Richie: [they step forward, shocked to see Beverly suspended in the air] Shit. How-how is she in the air?
Eddie: [glancing up above the mountain of toys] Guys... are those...?
Stanley: The missing kids... floating.
Ben: [as Mike and Richie are lifting him off the ground so he can reach Beverly] Just help me grab her.
Richie: Shit. [Ben manages to grab hold of Beverly's feet and starts pulling her down]
Ben: I'm slipping. [getting Beverly low enough for Mike and Richie to grab hold of her as well, he stares into Beverly's glossy eyes and blank face as the others look on in concern] Bev. [he shakes her, only for her head to tilt downwards] Beverly. Why isn't she waking up?! What is wrong with her?! Beverly, please! Come on! [he pushes her head upright and hugs her, to no effect; finally, after holding her for a few seconds, in a last ditch effort, he kisses Beverly]
Boys: Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Richie: Wow. [Ben backs away from Beverly; after a few seconds, Beverly gasps as her eyes return to normal and she regains consciousness]
Ben: Bev? [looks at her, and she looks back at him]
Beverly: "January embers"
Ben: [looking at Beverly with a passionate smile] "My heart burns there too"
Richie: Jesus, fuck. [laughs and embraces Ben and Beverly; Eddie and Stan laugh as well]
Mike: Oh, God. [he, Eddie, and Stan join in the embrace as well; relieved that Beverly is safe, Eddie walks away, looking around the corner in the direction that Bill went]
Beverly: [looking around and noticing Bill isn't there] Where's Bill?
Bill: [still facing “Georgie” through the wall of water] Georgie.
”Georgie”: [walking around the hole towards Bill] What took you so long?
Bill: I was looking for you this whole time.
”Georgie”: I couldn’t find my way out of here. He said I could have my boat back, Billy.
Bill: [smiles slightly] Was she fast?
”Georgie”: I couldn’t keep up with it.
Bill: “She”, Georgie. We call boats “she”.
”Georgie”: Take me home, Billy. [Mike, Richie, Ben, Beverly, Eddie, and Stan appear behind Bill, surprised by the sight of Bill’s thought-to-be-dead little brother]

Future Vows[]

[It is September; Bill, Beverly, Ben, Richie, Eddie, Stanley, and Mike are sitting together in a circle next to the river.]
Beverly: I can only remember parts, but, I thought I was dead. That's what it felt like. [Ben and Stan gaze at her] I saw us, all of us together back in the cistern, but we were older, like, our parents' ages.
Bill: What were we all doing there?
Beverly: I just remember how we felt. How scared we were. I don't think I can ever forget that.
Bill: [looking at a shard of glass, he stands up and bends down to pick it up] Swear it. Swear if It isn't dead, if It ever comes back, we'll come back, too.
[Mike, Ben, Stanley, Richie, Eddie, and Beverly ponder this, and they stand up one by one as Bill holds out his left hand and makes an incision in it using the piece of glass. He then approaches Richie and cuts into his left hand; he cringes from the pain and shakes his hand as Bill does the same thing with Eddie, who looks away. Bill then goes over to Mike, who groans as Bill cuts into his skin; Stanley closes his eyes and grits his teeth in pain as Bill makes an incision in his hand. Ben lets out a quick grunt in pain as Bill does a quick incision with his hand, then finally, he goes over to Beverly, as the other boys clutch their bleeding hands, and makes a deep incision in her hand; Beverly winces slightly, but other than that, she acts as if she didn't feel a thing. Bill steps away, in between Richie and Beverly, and holds out his right hand; Beverly places her left hand in it. Ben takes Beverly's right hand, then extends his right hand to Stanley, who takes it with his left hand then takes Mike's left hand with his right, Mike holds hands with Eddie, who cringes, then takes Richie's left hand, and finally, Richie takes Bill's hand. The seven of them hold hands for a few seconds, then let go simultaneously.]
Stanley: I gotta go. I hate you. [Bill feels a little bit stung by these words, then Stan smiles to indicate that he was just joking; Ben grins at him, then Eddie, Richie, and the others laugh] I'll see you later. [he turns to walk away]
Bill: Bye, Stan.
Eddie: [Richie gives him a pat on the back before he departs as well] Bye, guys.
Beverly: [as Mike leaves] Bye, Mike.
Mike: See you later, losers.
Richie: [as he walks past Ben and glances at Bill and Beverly] See you around, Bill.
Bill: See you, Rich.
Ben: See you guys later. [he turns to leave as well]
Beverly: Bye, Ben. [she and Bill are the only ones left, sitting on one of the logs]
Bill: [glancing at Beverly as Ben walks off in the background] You-you all packed for Portland?
Beverly: Yeah, pretty much. I'm going tomorrow morning.
Bill: How long will you be gone?
Beverly: My aunt, she says I can stay for as long as I want, so... [Bill knows that this means he may not see Beverly again] Just so you know... I never felt like a loser when I was with all of you. [Bill looks at her, then looks away] See you around. [She gets up to leave; Bill looks at her, then looks away, thinking for a few seconds, before getting up and running right up to her and kissing her. Beverly, amazed by the kiss, smiles and puts her blood-covered left hand on Bill's cheek while putting her right hand on his shoulder and kisses him back. Bill looks into her eyes as they kiss; she then backs away from him, still smiling] Bye.
[Beverly turns and continues on her own path as Bill passionately watches her departure.]
