Icon Productions is an Australian-American independent production company founded in August 1989 by actor/director Mel Gibson and Australian producing partner Bruce Davey.

The first film to be produced by that company is Hamlet, based on the play by William Shakespeare, whereas Gibson faced financial troubles for the film, and the company was created.

The first logo in 1992 involves two flames creating a explosion (drawn in the Richard Williams style), forming a drawing of a knight with the company name.

In 1994, a new current logo is introduced where a section of an ancient artwork Theotokos of Vladimir focuses on the mother's left eye and the nose. Lightning strikes around the section as the company name forms.
