I Wanna Play House is a 1936 Merrie Melodies short directed by I. Freleng.

Plot[]

Two bear cubs, one brown and one black, sneak away from Papa Bear to enjoy a game of hide-and-seek. The black cub goes into a Gypsy trailer and gets drunk on cider. The little bears' harmless hijinks soon turn into danger on the runaway wagon. The brown bear and black bear land next to the father. The Papa Bear spanks the brown bear again, but then he throws a rock at the black bear.

Notes[]

  • This is the final Merrie Melodies short to feature the words "WARNER BROS. PRODUCTIONS CORPORATION" and "Present" with a small WB shield and "VITAPHONE" under "WARNER BROS." Cartoons released shortly after this would have the zooming shield with the words "VITAPHONE" and "Presents" appearing after the WB shield, which has gotten larger when featured between 1936-45 on Merrie Melodies shorts, zooms in.
  • The European Turner print has blue borders around the opening titles, while the American Turner print has no borders. The 1995 Turner dubbed ending card is also sped up to keep with music for the USA dubbed version.
  • No print with the original ending card has been released on home video. However, the original ending card is known to exist. In February 2018, an extremely faded old copy was found and kept the original ending. The original ending titles look very similar to the ones from "When I Yoo Hoo", "I Love to Singa" and "Sunday Go to Meetin' Time", though with a few notable differences. The next Merrie Melodies short, "The Cat Came Back", would also have the same original ending card like this short's.
