A tough gangster cat (a character spoof of Edward G. Robinson) demands an order of mouse knuckles from Filligan, the waiter at "Tuffy's Tavern" (a parody of the popular old-time-radio show "Duffy's Tavern"). The cat even answers the phone "Tuffy ain't here..." like in the radio show. Unfortunately for all concerned, the dull-witted cat assigned to find a mouse is easily outsmarted by a loquacious Sniffles, who isn't keen on giving up his knuckles. When "Edward" is unhappy, violence ensues...
This is the only Sniffles cartoon in the Looney Tunes series. All of his other cartoons were released as part of the Merrie Melodies series.
This cartoon is the last to feature the Porky in a Drum closing titles due to the end of the 1945-46 season which used the red rings, black background. The next cartoon "Hair-Raising Hare", would feature a new background scheme.
