"Hot Lips" is a jazz song featured in the 1985 film The Color Purple which was written by Henry Busse, Henry Lange, and Lou Davis. It was first recorded by Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra in 1922 and became a number-one hit for them. The song is about a trumpet player who has "hot lips" when he plays jazz and blues.
