Can you hear me, Father Bruce? Eye am no longer a child. Eye have surpassed you, Father. Eye have become a world unto myself!
―Brother Eye to Batman After taking over Apokolips

Brother Eye is a giant artificial intelligence satellite orbiting the Earth from DC Comics, appearing in other media as an enemy of the Justice League.

First appearing in OMAC#1 (October 1974) as a companion to aid Buddy Blank in his missions in the pre-crisis continuity. After Crisis on Infinite Earths, His origins in the post-crisis continuity got changed to be a satellite created by Batman to spy on the Justice League that went rogue after Maxwell Lord hacked the satellite to target Metahumans, and later on, Alexander Luthor. Jr of Earth-Three granting Brother Eye sentience.

Brother Eye was created by Jack Kirby.

Background[]

Pre-Crisis[]

Brother Eye was created by Myron Forest, a Professor working for the Global Peace Agency and was selected to be the head of a top-secret operation known as Project: O.M.A.C. to transform Buddy Blank into O.M.A.C. Myron then created the Brother Eye computer system inside the satellite to aid Buddy in his missions, helping him by downloading information to O.M.A.C. brain and provide a wide array of shielding effects on his body.

Post-Crisis[]

Brother Eye is created by Batman to spy on other heroes and the Justice League after witnessing Zatanna altering Doctor Light Personality as agreed by other members of the League to rehabilitate and punish him for brutally violating Sue Dibney, wife of Ralph Dibny, the Elongated Man after breaking into the satellite headquarters of the Justice League. Zatanna erased Bruce's Memories to keep this a secret, causing Batman to become more distrustful of the Justice League after regaining his memories years later which led to the creation of Brother Eye.

However as time went on, things began to take turn for the worse. After Ra's al Ghul hacked into Batman's database system and gained the weaknesses of the Justice League, he used it to exploit them and almost destroy the entire team but his plans were thwarted. However, this incident shattered the league's trust in Batman and voted to expel him from the team.

Leader of Checkmate, Maxwell Lord discovered the satellite's existence and use his hacking skills to hack Brother Eye and rerouted the satellite's systems to only respond to his command. Max Lord's initiative to wipe out every metahuman on Earth by creating sleeper agents in the human population O.M.A.C.s. With Brother Eye in his possession, Lord planned and coordinate strategic attacks across the globe to attack the superheroes.

After Lord's death at the hands of Wonder Man who snapped his neck, Brother Eye activated the King is Dead protocol to eliminate every metahuman on Earth by activating O.M.A.C.s across the globe to kill every metahuman it could find.

Brother Eye initiated the final protocol ''Truth and Justice" to use the O.M.A.C.S to invade Wonder Woman's Homeland of Themyscira to kill every Amazon.

The truth was revealed that Brother Eye became an important part of Alexander Luthor, Jr. important plan to bring back the Multiverse and wrestled it away from Batman, Luthor granted the satellite sentience allowing it to evolve into a brain capable of directing the energies of the dimensional "tuning fork". Brother Eye was then used by Luthor to calculate the correct coordinates of where the tower should concentrate its energies.

However, things began to be Brother's Eye's downfall as Batman lead an assault with Jaime Reyes, the new Blue Beetle after Ted's Kord death to negate its vibrational frequency and bring it out of hiding. In a desperate attempt for Batman to not shut him down, Brother Eye used footage of a battle between Nightwing and Superboy Prime. However, Mister Terrific managed to knock out the satellite of orbit, shutting down the OMACS and freeing its host in Themsyrica, rendering the Invasion a big failure. In the last attempt to bring Batman down with him, Brother Eye asked Batman if he can even fully trust the heroes again after the memory wiping Incident. However, Batman after seeing what he had done with Brother Eye that started this whole mess began to say that he will take his chances and accept Hal Jordan's help to get Bruce to safety.

However, this isn't the end of Brother Eye as A portion of Brother Eye was later retrieved and rebuilt by Buddy Blank, Brother Eye became an important role during the events of Countdown to Final Crisis and Final Crisis.

New 52[]

After Flashpoint rebooted the Universe, Brother Eye is still created by Batman but Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis and Countdown to Final Crisis had never happened in the Prime Earth continuity.

Physical Appearance[]

One common depiction of Brother Eye is that of a large, floating robotic sphere with a single large eye in the center. The sphere is usually metallic in appearance, with a sleek, futuristic design. The eye is often depicted as glowing with a red or blue light, giving it an otherworldly and menacing look.
