• Unlike the book and the 2005 adaptation, Bill is the owner of a candy store rather than a shop.
• While Bill is similar to the shopkeeper from the book, he is an entirely new character for the 1971 movie while the shopkeeper was omitted, leaving Bill the one to replace him.
