Austin Ames is the most popular boy in Sam's school, and is the Prince Charming character in the movie. He was the football captain, but he didn't really want to play football, he wanted to be a writer. His father, Andy Ames wanted him play football and go to his old college, much to Austin's unhappiness, and annoyance. Austin was employed at his father's carwash He was dating Shelby Cummings but he didn't like her much at all. He and Sam were online pen pals but were unaware of whom they were really chatting with. He goes as Prince Charming at the Halloween Homecoming dance, where he meets a masked Sam. They get to know each other, and share a romantic dance. He then takes off his mask, and reveals himself, but before he can unmask Sam however, the alarm on her cellphone goes off and she leaves. Austin and Sam are named Homecoming Prince and Princess but Sam leaves the dance in order to get back to the diner before midnight and Austin finds the only clue she left behind: her cellphone which she dropped. A few days later, when Shelby and Sam's stepsisters humiliate her in front of the school at the pep rally, he was hurt by Sam's secrecy, and is also humiliated by the trio reading their emails, but he doesn't stand up to defend Sam. When Sam leaves with her best friend Carter feeling humiliated, Austin notices, and he, along with some of the teachers, regret not helping her. When Sam comes and confronts him in the lockers, he tries to apologize, but Sam wouldn't even let him talk. When Sam, and Her best friend Carter come to the homecoming football game, Sam gets stressed and tries to make her way out of the bleachers. Austin sees this and realizes that he's losing his chance to truly be with Sam. In the end, Austin finally went against his father and chased after Sam on the bleachers. They make amends and kiss as it finally rains, much to the Twins and Shelby's annoyance. In the end he gives Sam back her cellphone, and they drive off to Princeton together, and live happily ever after.
Personality[]
Austin is strong but inside of him is a gentlemen. Andy wants him to do stuff he likes. Austin can be a bit of a coward until Sam was about to leave the crowd. Finally he stood up for himself and went against his father. All this time he really loved Sam, not Shelby or Sam's stepsisters. He is much more geeky than the might characters think.
