Andrea Bocelli, OMRI, OMDSM (born 22 September 1958) is an Italian classical crossover tenor, recording artist, and singer-songwriter. He was born with poor eyesight, Bocelli became permanently blind at the age of 12, following a football accident when he was struck in the eye whilst playing goalkeeper during the match, and suffered a brain hemorrhage. Doctors resorted to leeches in a last-ditch effort to save his sight, but they were unsuccessful, and Bocelli's sight remained black.
In 1998, Bocelli forms a duet with Céline Dion to sing The Prayer for Warner Bros. animated film Quest for Camelot, that won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song and nominated for an Academy Award in the same category. Bocelli also sings the solo version of the song from the film, that is heard in the closing credits.
