  • April 5 - Chuck Jones, who has been an animator with Leon Schlesinger for five years, has been made a director and will direct a series of Merrie Melodies cartoons for the 1938-39 season.
  • June 16 - Leon Schlesinger has engaged Pinto Colvig to work in his story department, and he will also be heard as a voice in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies.
  • July 19 - Leon Schlesinger has signed Charles Thorson to a five-year contract as a character model to work on his Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. Thorson was formerly connected with Walt Disney.
